For weeks, months or years, the fast dark movements in your peripheral vision are dismissed until it finally happens without warning. You see the shadow directly in front of you: face to face, blacker than black, darker than dark, like a void that has punched a hole into the inky fabric of night itself.

It's may have been a hypnagogic hallucination. These happen as you slip from reality and enter a dream (this is not psudeo science, I know it sounds like it is, but it is actual real science).
I believe it was simply because you were lying down.
The reason you have only just experienced it, is because by the time this starts happening you are asleep. But sometimes you wil either wake up into it, and fall into it just before you go to sleep. Hypnagogic hallucination happen happen in sleep paralysis, but sometimes it doesn't.
In these hallucinations you can see things, and hear things, they can be so vivid that you can swear they are real. People have heard people having a party just outside their door, I have personally been "abducted" and had a flying sensation. Of course i wasn't really being abducted, my brain was creating this situation.

But this is only a possibility. You may have really seen something.

"I didn't really know what to do. I just remember people from here and other conspiracy communities saying not to be afrain, that you should get rid of fear. So basically I just laid there starring at my door calming myself down."

When I was younger, the family moved into an old farmhouse that actually used to be a stagecoach stop (near Bloomsbury NJ). We rented the house from the owner who lived in the old house next door. Well, they were convinced that their house was 'haunted' and had many experiences of noises, sounds, music playing, etc. My friend who used to take care of their lawn refused to ever be in the house alone.

Anyway, one early morning, just before sunrise, I woke up and remember just staring at the ceiling. Just then I heard, and followed with my eyes, footsteeps that were coming above my ceiling. Well, this would be next to impossible since the attic section above my bedroom had no floorboards! I remember not really being scared, but was trying to figure out where the footsteps had come from, since I heard them so clearly. I assumed my step father had come to my side of the upstairs to use the bathroom down the hall from my room, and they must have been his footsteps. There was two bedrooms and a bathroom on my side of the house (and my brother had switched his room to the other side near my mom and stepfather..), with a large office room that lead to the other side which had two bedrooms and a bath. For whatever reason, my stepfather always used my bathroom, so this would not have been out of the ordinary.

Well, I got up and looked to see nobody in the bathroom. Now I'm getting weirded out, so I walk to the other side of the upstairs and wake up my mom and stepfather and ask if he had just used the bathroom. Of course he was not thrilled with being woken up and told me they both were fast asleep. Now I'm totally freaked, but can't figure out what, or how the footsteps could have been made,,,other than some type of 'ghost'

Other than objects that would sometimes go missing, and then appear where you know you looked, that was about it for unexplained things,,,,,,,until..

The next door owner deceided to sell both properties since he had been transfered, so we had to put up with the realitor dropping by with potential buyers. I swear this is true,,,,,one day I see the realitor pull up with a buyer, and as the women buyer gets out of the car, I could see her face look very concerned. They came into the kitchen, the realitor said hi to me, but the buyer was turning white and the realitor asked if she was ok. The women just shook her head, and reluctantly said yes, and the realitor told her to follow her into the dining room (the oldest portion of the house, directly below my bedroom..) and then the old spiral stairs that lead to my section of the upstairs. At this point I was curious so I kinda followed behind them. The buyer went a couple steps up the staircase and mumbled "no" and turned and walked back toward the kitchen. I quickly went back into the kitchen too as the realitor quickly walked in and asked what was wrong. The buyer calmly looked at her and said, "I would never live here, this house is haunted", and walked out. The realitor looked at me and asked if it was, and I just said, "I guess some people think so...". They both got in the car and left.

I never really had a feeling of "doom", "dread" or fear in the house, but always felt like something was a little "off". We moved soon after this. Absolutely true, and the house is still there.

Because more and more people are "waking up" to their spirituality. The veil is slowly lifting on the next dimension as our own vibrations rise. The ancients used to be very spiritually aware but somewhere along the way, we've lost that ability. Now it's coming back. Nothing to be afraid of; it's all part of our spiritual growth.

Thanks for all the replies and stories. I might be able to find a logical reason for it, but to the person who was talking about the hallucinations. I was having trouble falling a sleep, about 5 mins before I saw it I got up and used the bathroom. So I am not sure if that is it, unless you can enter that state fairly quickly

Now go do a cleansing ritual with the god Apollo.

If you had trouble falling to sleep that would explain why you wake at the time of the hallucination. I have entered that state after going to the bathroom aswell, but only because I had woken up, gone to the bathroom, then hallucinated.
It is possible to enter that state that fast, if you had already been trying to go to sleep previously.

It could be energy 'just passing through', or it could be a sort of 'recording' of past energy.


Either way, it's just energy.

If you see it hanging out over there again, burn white sage in the corners of the room and hang something on the door as 'protection'... be it a picture, or just a bag of spices to ward off the energy.

How long have you been in that house? Where are you located? Sounds like Indian (Native) activity to me. Indian ghosts are shapeshifters and the small black shadow is a common one.

I saw one... There was a static electric sort of charge that I heard first then "it" came walking through. It passed right in front of a light and I could tell that it was slightly transparent. It stopped as if it knew I was there and looked in my direction. No eyes or and other facial features but when it looked at me I literally tried to scream but I froze up.. I couldn’t even breath. Then it looked away and walked through a wall.. I was told it was some sleep paralysis thing but I wasn’t asleep and was very awake...

This My 12 year old has started seeing ghosts and them touching her.

It may be a one off, but try to pay attention for the next few weeks or so for anything else out of the ordinary...
It may be that something is trying to communicate a message to you, but I personally wouldn't recommend doing EVP work unless you are comfortable with it...you can leave yourself open and incite an escalation of events if you aren't careful.

Do they always appear as shadows?
Way back when I was 17, I woke up 10 minutes before my alarm. I clearly remember being completely awake. It was about 5:30 AM.
As I was laying in bed I heard what I can only describe as a shuffling foot step kinda noise outside my room.
I thought one of my 4 yearold little twin sisters were up.
I got out of bed and walked into the hallway and turned on the light switch which was just outside my door.(the hall was actually a 20 x 20 foot area more than a hallway.)
There, right in front of me was a man wearing a cream colored rain coat and a dark Fedora hat. He was completely solid. The look on his face was clearly one of surprise. He looked more surprised to see me than I him.
He took a couple of steps forward and was pulling his fist back as if to hit me. As his arm came towards me he just kinda faded away.
I know I saw what I saw.
So my question is...do shadow people ever take full form?

Yes, I've seen them before. Was the one you saw about 3 to 4 feet tall?

I went through a Year of hell back in 2008-2009.
A white Light orb started manifesting in my house, then flashing TRIANGLES in Sept 2008, within two months my house turned into a exorcist movie..Lights off and on, TV off and ON, TV volume up and down, attacks in my sleep, banging every night at 3AM in my walls and ceiling for hours at a time. It took me months to figure out what it was and months to get rid of it. Being a astrologer for 30 years and heavily influenced by all the New Age Mumbo Jumbo I didnt realize for awhile what was happening. I thought the Silver Orb and Triangles that were appearing was a angel trying to give me a special message...Little did I know what a nightmare my life would turn into...What did I learn??? Demons Exists and they OBEY THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. EVERY SINGLE TIME....Take it for what its worth.

Those TRIANGLES the Illuminati sport around are REAL, not just a symbol...Demons appear as Plasma light in the forms of shapes...That's what sacred geometry is all about.

One time my older sister was just cleaning her room up. She was like ummm.. why is this man looking at me.. I'm like what man. I see the fucking hat man just looking at her. The guy was 8ft tall. On the wall. One Dimensional. Now this guy meant business. He just stood there and watched her. She was moving stuff away from the light so she could she what object was creating this figure. It turns out to be none.

That shit was fucking creepy.

I didn't know what it was. I laughed it off. Until I discovered unexplained mysteries forum and then they had this LONG thread about them (400 pages long) about what they could do and shit.

Pretty freaky.

You cannot convince me that was a hallucination.

I was wide awake actually and it was night time.

We both were seeing the same thing. My cat didn't notice anything unusual since she put the cat in front of him. The thing that baffles me is that this guy was there for about 5 minutes and we then ignored him.

This was in 2003 by the way.

Growing up through the 80's and 90's psychics used to go on about the 'veil thinning'.

It can be anything, not just shadow figures. However I believe most people report shadow people because If you see the BK king guy sitting on you, and you can't move, your probably just going to pass it off as a dream. But when you see shadow figures and you can't move, it almost becomes demonic in your mind. And if you happen to hallucinate them while you can move, it can become more ghostly then demonic.

I know it's hard without proof to tell people I wasn't hallucinationg, but I know I wasnt. I would guess it to of been 5-6 ft tall. It seemed to be suprised I rolled over and saw it, so it seemed to like freeze, then when it realized I noticed it and wasn't just turning away it darted of. Def. one of the strangest things I have ever seen.
