I promise I won't make you milk a cow! chuckle

But seriously, my home is available for anyone too broke to pay for a hotel stay or anyone who just wants to ride out the storm with fellow GLPers. Let me know if anyone is interested! We are just North of Asheville. Plenty of room!

I took that as just a neighbourly invite and might have jumped at the chance to meet Watcher and her family. I live too far away and don't need the accommodation in any case.

Thanks for the offer, I'm sure you weren’t expecting crazies to respond but even so you are obviously smart and vigilant enough to have prepared for that eventuality or any other surprise. Some people are prepared others wait.

In any case we never know until we meet someone who or what they are. Watcher could have been something totally different than what we imagine. Or she could be the gentle kind, protecting and loving soul I imagine her to be.
 Quoting: Forge

I took her offer the exact same way. WTF everyone talks about the good ole days when folks looked out for each other and when one makes a truly neighborly offer they are villified. Her offer took some guts and she does seem to have her wits about her...if I needed shelter I would certainly take her up on her offer and probably meet a great friend.

I am all that and more. This offer was just a spill over of the desire in my heart to help those in need. Yeah, the crazies could respond but so could those most in need of a friend, a shoulder to cry on or just someone to listen. I am that friend, despite whether people believe this was a good idea or not, I will always be there for anyone who needs to be reminded that they matter. I hate what this has become. Watching people live in such fear is a sad thing indeed!

Thanks for your kind words!

Looks like I'm in the bulls eye now (NE Maryland)... but probably a bit far to evacuate to Watcher's place.

What some of us are doing here is preparing to be helpful to others once the storm has past. We have a number of elderly and others who live alone... gonna get a group of people together on Sunday and volunteer out our labor to whomever may need it.

You know you have the ability to remove unwanted or negative posts.. if you dont like the way a thread is going, remove the post.. simple..

I applaud you watcher for you desire to help, of course there are dangers in this world.. hell you could die by falling in your shower.. what is supposed to make us different from all the other animals is compassion and the ability to show our fellow human beings love..

Your thoughts create your reality, project what you want to occur and be prepared for all outcomes and you will pretty much have a fairly safe life..

Risks are necessary to grow.. stay positive watcher..

Next time somebody sticks a gun in my face, I will respond.

Faith is your relationship with the creator. A persons desire to help the less fortunate or those in need is a branch of your faith, in the creator. That suggests it is right thing to do. No where does any faith say that you should not prepare for conflict. Yes I as a child of the creator want to help any that are in need. Does that mean I rely on the creator to protect me rather than guide me NO. Will I attempt to help any who I see in need Yes. Am I armed Yes. Do I want to use my arms against another human being NO. Will I if there is no other recourse OF COURSE. The relationship between fathe and our creator, simply does not clash with our desire to help people and at the same time protect ourselves and those that depend on us.

and for anyone missed my post... if you can get a flight... head to an inland town in Queensland Australia called Nanango.

The other possibility is a place called Nimbin in Northern New South Wales.

That's if TSHTF

Hi CP, nanango is still too close to the ocean so is Nimbin.. we have started a little group and have been researching safe zones in southeast queensland.. we figure you need at least a 300 km buffer.. minimum.. from the coast.. for the big, really big tsunami's..

Im near nanango and we need to get much further out, the elevation above sea level is seriously not enough.. bunya mountains minimum..

If you're ever over this side of oz drop me a message..

If the kermadic trench or the puysegur trench collapses due to a quake it could send a tsunami our way, these are the two big danger areas for the east coast of Oz.. two hours or less warning depending on the speed of the wave.. sign up for the tsunami text message warnings from jatwc at the B.O.M site [link to www.bom.gov.au] and have an evac route out through the hinterland inland and over the range then head toward bunya mountains on the warrego hwy, have evac bags packed and be ready to go within 20 mins of a tsunami alert.

It might peeter out and be nothing, but it might not either, personally i would rather take a day trip out west at the first hint of a tsunami than be drowned in one.. its only a 2-3 hour drive, no biggy..

Frankly,
I was very pleased to meet watcher, and am glad I did.

It's good to know who your neighbors are and have friends you can trust with ur life to do the right thing web when it's hard.

She's a good soul, good head on her shoulders, and living the best that she knows how. No matter what happens she is following the sails of her heart steered by the rudder of reason.

The thing is fear will stop anygood thing from happening.

Courage is knowing the risks and doing the right thing regardless.

Word.
 Quoting: Burnsville 1517215

I enjoyed meeting you today as well! I commented earlier that if you are any indication of the types of people that come to GLP, then you and others like you are ALWAYS welcome in your time of need!

By my observation, fear is one of the many things that has gotten our nation/world in the mess it is in and I am not about to turn my little corner of it over to that darkness just yet. Others can call that naivety if they want but to me, it is just doing the right thing. If we don't help each others, who will? We need to take this nation back one kind act at a time if we have to or just cower in our homes from all the "what ifs" and live in fear! I refuse to live that way.

It is a very bad idea to invite people you do not know to move in. It's almost like loaning money. Some will refuse to leave. Others are homeless. If you know the people well then sure invite them over to stay a while.
