Just a thought.. but if a mass part of the american population were to die, wouldn't it be easier to dispose of the bodies without bags?

Smell, disease, public outrage at leaving bodies exposed, etc... Many reasons why they'd want some sort of disposal system, I think.

The bags will only contain the smell for so long. Despite popular belief, even a fresh corpse stinks, and we all know it only gets worse as time goes on.

I don't want to really poke my nose into this topic, but I just can't resist.

I'm in the funeral industry, and deal with a lot of yucky, icky things on a daily basis. In the case of body bags, I'm wondering how much the contract is for, OP. I know that our bags cost a pretty penny, and that's just for private body removals and general body transportation. I've also encountered the "more flammable" and "accelerated" bags while doing a direct-to-cremation drop off.

If they're spending god knows how much just to waste money, I'd rather see them spend the money on something useful, than expensive, and unnecessary bags.
