Anonymous Coward User ID: 1185535 United States 08/30/2011 08:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Are they waiting for it to fall or are they going to push it? I vote for the latter: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1519285 Thread: USGS blanketed the east coast with sensors prior to Irene Humm...is this an annual regularity for USGS? Before major storms? Or...is this something new? It wouldn't take much for the government to cause this situation to occur. As far as I could find this is a new situation. I live on the east coast and the hype around Irene all the way up the coast allowed them to get stuff put in everywhere. What kind of stuff? Who knows. They just say "sensors". Think about this. They had almost 300 sensors on hand to get in before Irene? It's August. They've had months. Could have been done any time, or state by state or whatever. No, they rush in to do something fast while nobody is paying any attention whatsoever and even if they did question something, well, there's a major hurricane coming, we have no time to debate this, etc. Who would questions a usgs guy (besides glp'ers, lol) if they saw one with equipment near a bridge doing official looking things before a majorly hyped hurricane? |

Its very late here and I'm trying to find more information about it and the lasts quakes I just can't sleep. I hope tomorrow I can talk with my family and that they don't call me crazy since we don't know nothing about what is happening. God bless internet. Just be prepared that's all. let your family know that you just want to be ready in the same way you would have a plan for a fire. This is just something we don't plan for. However, we need to. How do you plan for a 1000 meter Tsunami? I think we all need to relax and manifest positive outcomes. Stop running scared. Me I have a bug out bag near the door with dried food, nail clippers etc etc etc in it. Just enough to get me and my son through a few days. If we don't have to leave the house then I have more supplies here. We have a plan to meet at a certain place if we have to evacuate. That's the best we can do but it is something. It is the discussion and steps that you need to have down just the same as in a fire. A meeting place and in this case some supplies. I also have stuff in my trunk, toilet paper, water etc etc. |

Here in Portugal there are some high places where the tsunami can't reach so be prepared to leave anytime...when the risk is higher (when lots of quakes are happening) or when part of the island begins to fall before crating an tsunami...they say that it may reach the cost of my country about 1:30-2 hours I live more to the north so that takes more times...even tough it may reach me if I'm smart enough to go to the nearest and higher place the damage will be less or non-existence depending on how high I am |

If you just google future maps of America (images) u will see that it's not a far fetched idea that the East Coast will go under. Let's just look at Japan. . . people think things like this will NEVER happen, then they do. I bet there has been a sharp rise in stress levels throughout the US and the World over the past few years and that is going to have an effect on the vibrations of our World and what happens. I live on the East Coast right by the water.. . . 1 1/2 to 2 hours is not enough time to get to the mountains even with a bug-out-bag at the door ready to go. I think those along the East Coast who can should go ahead and move inland, close to the mountains if possible. The East Coast could be sleeping in the middle of the night when this all goes down. . . . there won't be enough time then. Let's all hope we can swim well if that does end up being the case. |

If this really happens It will only affect USA east coast after 5-6 hours but I live in Europe...I've also drawn a map and if I leave as soon as the tsunami begins I can get to the mountains i 1h30m +/- Portugal geography is very different from USA. But still people living in USA have away more time to move from the coast |
