Quoting: ladywarhol Let's hope the best for all Good that are thinking about it and preparing. (Honestly, for the US I am much more concerned of an east coast off-shore landslide of the continental shelf that would produce a 20 -30 foot wave with very little warning and time. But that is another story.) Regarding landslides and tsunamis: May it never happen. But if it does, may everyone be safe. Yes, but the major problem is that we don't know what is happening and most people here will be taken by surprise...unless, of course, like me they found this on the internet. Also I'm thinking about how to talk with my family since they don't take me very serious and the fact that this isn't on the news will make them think I'm worring to much :( |

User ID: 1514442 United States 08/30/2011 10:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This Post unnerves me to no end. I am supposed to go to the coast for the weekend, It would be just my luck this kind of thing would happen at that time. but even so, I'm prepared to die. as we all should be, for there is really nothing to fear in life because it is all us. If the waves come then merge with them I shall it will be my time to go, Although of course I hope that is not the case I think I still have much to learn, but as the Boyscout motto goes : Be prepared! Marty McFly- Oh This Is heavy Doc Doc Bown- There's that word again, heavy. Why are things so heavy in the future, is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pole??- Back To the Future Me-Hehe, Doc you don't have any idea do you? All in fractals friends! Life is like a ride at an amusement park and when you go on it you think it's real cause that's how powerful our minds are.- Bill Hicks Either get busy living, or get busy dying- Morgan Freeman (Shawshank Redemption) |

In fact I need others help too since I don't have a car. That means I need to convince my dad or mom that whenever it happens we gotta be ready. I've already planned where everybody should go. |

That shit happens and the east coast get hit by a hundred feet tsunami going at 1000 km/h... say goodbye to the 25+ nuclear power plants on the east coast. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1528201 Say hello to 25+ Fukushimas... but worse. Say hello to at least 20 million dead corpses being all over the coast. Say hello to several big cities being wiped off the map. Say bye bye to America as a superpower... for the next hundred years at least. But other then that, no big deal, right? 20 million corpses isn't even up to Bill Ayers' standard: Thread: FBI AGENT: "BILL AYERS WAS PLANNING ON MURDERING 25 MILLION AMERICANS" Well since 40 million live on the east coast of the US... it will be more like 35 million dead. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 995876 United States 08/31/2011 10:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "Computer modelling indicates that the resulting initial wave may attain a local amplitude (height) in excess of 600 metres (1,969 ft) and an initial peak to peak height that approximates to 2 kilometres (1 mi), and travel at about 1,000 kilometres per hour (621 mph) (approximately the speed of a jet aircraft), inundating the African coast in about 1 hour, the southern coast of England in about 3.5 hours, and the eastern seaboard of North America in about 6 hours, by which time the initial wave would have subsided into a succession of smaller ones each about 30 metres (98 ft) to 60 metres (197 ft) high. These may surge to several hundred metres in height and be several kilometres apart but retaining their original speed." What is the distance these would travel inland. I'm here on the east coast and am wondering. thank you love and light to us all The models show a series of 100-200 foot tall waves hitting the East coast of the U.S. about once per hour for several hours. 100 foot waves carry massive strength. 200 foot waves are unimaginable. The first few waves would knock down most structures like homes and small buildings. The proceeding waves would not have debris to wash in...like wrecking balls smashing into larger buildings. There's a tremendous amount of water being blanketed in with these scenarios. By the time the last wave hit you could figure that the majority of the coast line would be missing...any flat lands would be completely inundated...there will be little to stop them. The computer models show the water going in as far as western Tennessee in worst case scenarios. |
