Very nice thread. I will definitely be using this thread as guide. I printed it out and shared it with my family. I guess I need to work on me first. I feel like my head is so cluttered with so much of the drama of life.

I do have a question though about fasting. What effect do you think denying your body of food for a period of time have on meditation?

It's hard sometimes to know what is real. I mean, look at what has transpired in our country and in the world in the past 10 years! I guess you can say it has been a roller coaster of emotions. There is a lot of negative energy that permeates the media, internet on all sides. I love to read these conspiracy forums about different subjects, and when I see a thread like this, its like a breath of fresh air.

One thing about tantra too - is we like to keep things happy, and simple :)

Doesn't mean we don't study complex subjects.....many of us do.....but we like to keep our lifestyle clean, organized, fun, enjoyable, silly sometimes, and simple :)

This makes for an enjoyable life! Don't get too wrapped up in stuff, least it distract you from simple and happy awareness of Self :)



Fasting, has so many benefits on the physical, emotional, and mental bodies, that it would take me a very long time to present a full, comprehensive perspective on the benefits, but perhaps I will in the near future make a thread just for that ;)

I have MUCH experience with fasting, and all types of fasts.

You asked specifically about the effects on meditation, so here we go:

Fasting has the ability to REALLY sharpen your bodies (mental, emotional, physical). The effect it has on meditation, is when done right, it will clear out ALL 3 of your bodies, and thus allow you to reach true meditation MUCH quicker.

It also strengthens your Will, which, especially in the West, has because very sloppy and weak for many of us. Will is needed in meditation, so that is a great benefit.


As I mentioned , there are so many psychological benefits from fasting, it would take a lot to organize it into a post/thread. You know what though? I will do just that soon enough :) Thanks for the idea for another topic !
