They ask for this type of thing when they refuse to pay players and treat them as little more than cattle that serve to line their pockets. Give the players a cut of the action, and a lot of this will go away. But.....I won't hold my breath. No one is perfect. A babe before walking will first stumble and fall many times but NEVER gives up until he succeeds. Always remember, ultimately, to never follow any person's belief. Your relationship with God is between you and God. If nothing else, remember this: religion = subservience, control and conformity, the same template as EVERY government "Most believers would kill truth if truth threatened their religion." L. K. Washburn "This crime called blasphemy was invented by priests for the purpose of defending doctrines not able to take care of themselves." Robert Ingersoll "If anyone wants to know how God feels, it's a warm light as if the sun is poking through dark clouds and lifting your spirits with pure joy." |

They can't even hold a job for goodness sake. How are they supposed to be living on so little? The NCAA makes so much off of them, yet if the players get even a small amount of money or something, suddenly it's a criminal act. I'd contend it's the NCAA that is the criminal here, not the players. No one is perfect. A babe before walking will first stumble and fall many times but NEVER gives up until he succeeds. I'd contend it's the NCAA that is the criminal here, not the players. Yeah, they need some spending money just like everyone else. Being that the NCAA is so strict, I just wonder how much time the coaches spend going over the rules with the players. If they talk about it briefly and then just hand them a list of rules, then considering the consequences, then that is not enough. College students have text books and all sorts of other things they have to read, so maybe they don't get read at all. With all the illegal things that players get themselves involved with, I don't see how selling gifts should be considered as serious. |

This won't prevent problems with gifts from boosters of course, but since it seems the NCAA has no plan to evaluate its rules, maybe this would help a little. On the other hand, maybe some of the players are really motivated by receiving golden pants for beating Michigan. |

(OP) User ID: 1465884 United States 09/02/2011 10:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the ncaa is a giant scam anyways. OU you remember the championship game you stole from us? Remember the way Willis Mcgahee's knee twisted 180 degrees? Fortunately after rehab he was still able to play in the nfl. If not the U made millions of dollars off him, jersey sells, merchandise, yet student athletes don't get a dime, and if they are injured... too bad so sad Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1519986 f the ncaa Stole...what an interesting perspective...lol! Yes, we should follow the money. Our interim coach's salary jumped from $250,000 to $700,000. And the bonuses for beating U of M are very high. The $700,000 is nothing compared to what a longer term successful coach like Tressel made. Compare that to what the professors make. And then with all the sales and TV profits, you would think the poor students who aren't on scholarship could attend the university without accumulating massive debt. What percentage of profit goes to the NCAA? Last Edited by Jenann on 09/02/2011 10:11 PM |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1532958 That only goes so far, they still gotta be able to survive and many struggle to, which is why you see all these problems to begin with. No one is perfect.
