Help me pick out SHTF Antibiotics for my ummm "FISH". Really good info inside!
So i am a prepper, i have taken care of almost everything i reasonably can. One thing that has scared the shit out of me though is my lack of medication. i have all the basic "over the counter" stuff but that only goes so far. the closest thing i had to antibiotics is heavy duty MRSA/Staff style neosporin. cant hurt but i obviously want much better than this.

I had heard the best thing to do was go to a doctor and tell them you are travelling to the Philippines to get them to prescribe you some Cipro but even that is not good enough. I want to be as prepared as possible and found out a MUCH better way to take care of this.

"Fish" antibiotics available at your local store/amazon are actually human pill form name brand antibiotics. The best part is they are CHEAP AS SHIT. Most of the cost in human antibiotics is for big pharma to make an asston of profit and protect themselves from lawsuits. The directions on these are to just crush them up and add them to the water in your tank. I guess people have known about this for years but i some how missed it in my research.

I have taken first responder classes and know how to deal with most common injuries all the way up to minor gun shot wounds, but in these classes the steps always are stop the bleeding, then get them to the hospital. we all know this may not be feasible in the future. So my question is, those with EMT/Nursing/Medical experience can you please help me pick out a broad range of antibiotics i might need?

You know in case my "fish" gets Shot, needs and amputation, is exposed to a new undocumented bacteria, gets pneumonia, has a urinary tract infection, giardia etc etc. Anything that might happen if say my "fish" needed to escape to his bail out location and not have access to "fish doctors". I plan on continuing my medical education and learning how to do blood transfusions, more field surgeries, etc etc. but there is no time like the present!

Here are some of the medications available right now online.

Aquatic Tetracycline 250mg. 100 Count Capsules, Antibiotic USP
[link to www.amazon.com]

Aquatic Azithromycin 250mg. 30 Count Tablets, Antibiotic USP
[link to www.amazon.com]

Aquatic Ciprofloxacin 250mg. 50 Count Tablets, Antibiotic USP
[link to www.amazon.com]

Aquatic Ampicillin 500mg. 50 Count Capsules, Antibiotic USP
[link to www.amazon.com]

Aquatic Doxycycline 100mg. 100 Count Capsules, Antibiotic USP
[link to www.amazon.com]

Aquatic Clindamycin 150mg. 100 Count Capsules, Antibiotic USP
[link to www.amazon.com]

Aquatic Ketoconazole 200mg. 50 Count Tablets, Antibiotic USP
[link to www.amazon.com]

Terramycin Opthalmic Ointment - 1/8 oz
[link to www.amazon.com]

Aquatic Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim 800/160mg. 100 Count Tablets, Antibiotic USP
[link to www.amazon.com]

Fish Zole (Metronidazole) 250mg, 100 Tablets
[link to www.amazon.com]

Procaine Penicillin G - 250 cc
[link to www.amazon.com]

As you can see there are TONS of choices and i probably could find even more on a specific site that deals with this. I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction as far as a basic list. Willing to drop a good amount of cash on this as these will be very important and no way to get them. Also potential value in trade would be huge.

Are there any other "veterinary" medications out there i am unaware of that can also be purchased in this way? i assume pain killers are impossible to get no matter what because of all the druggies out there. Guess the best thing i can do for that is booze. But what about antivirals, anticoagulants, antifungals, anything else i am not thinking of? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Buy one of each. Just remember to have benadryl/lortabs, an epi pen (if you can get one) for severe reactions that may occur.

Can't have your "FISH" dying.

Also called Flagyl, Metronidazole is good for parasitic and protozoal infections. So if you may have to drink contaminated water, this is a good one.

If it comes to all of that, your fish will just be out for a survival of the fittest. On a hope and a prayer.
Personally I think it would be wiser to avoid the gunshot...get your fish to aim straight! lol

Good point. Op would have to look up the how-to's and make sure it's weight specific (little ones can die from a standard epi-pen).

Opie, shhhhhh...this is an important secret. Share it but don't broadcast it.

Also the shelf life for most of the antibiotics is much longer than the label says (but for God's sake do your own research and don't take my word for it; I think tetracycline is dangerous once it expires but google for yourself).

Ouch about the Epi pens..... maybe next bonus check then. looks like i will already be spending 200+ on these antibiotics.

As far as i know none of my relatives or me are allergic to any but i will double check.

and dont worry my "fish" are excellent shoots. the problem is RL just isnt like Call of Duty. I am hoping for the best but preparing for the worst =( also, you never know what can happen. trip and fall on some rebar and.... shit now i need to figure out how to get tetanus shots!
