I agree with the original poster and: One gains knowledge by following instructions to test results or, by experimentation to test results. Repeated and controlled attempts help you to arrive at conclusions. The conclusions provide a knowledge base. The knowledge base is employed to help with reason. Reason and experience of understanding the results leads to wisdom. Knowledge is simply a platform upon which, one builds understanding. So the word 'knowledge' itself is indeed, not the be all and end all of 'knowing'. We humans have unique ability to reason to gather facts; and that is what allows us to progress in stages or, in our evolution.
