What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." -Albert Pike • The smallest good deed is better than the grandest good intention. • “Your Majesty, please… I don’t like to complain, But down here below, we are feeling great pain. I know, up on top you are seeing great sights, But down here at the bottom we, too, should have rights. We turtles can’t stand it. Our shells will all crack! Besides, we need food. We are starving!” groaned Mack. “You hush up your mouth!” howled the mighty King Yertle. “You’ve no right to talk to the world’s highest turtle. I rule from the clouds! Over land! Over sea! There’s nothing, no, NOTHING, that’s higher than me!” |

No offense but we probably pay there power bill! At least that one may be an American company? Our delivery charge is higher than our electric/gas bill.. They refuse to cut power in emergencies (causing deaths) and are owned by some loons in the UK... Which really doesn't mean anything, as that companies parent company is probably owned by some state owned Chinese company. Oh, Q: Why does it matter if they are on the same grid? Canada shares our grid/we with them too. So what? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1402081 United States 09/09/2011 01:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wonder how much this will cost the state. KOGO reports two waste pumping stations leaking sewage and flights canceled. Factor in extra traffic control labor, fuel for backup generators, & emergency services. I'm sure there's more but don't know. Would hate to be that one employee in Arizona, if that's true though. |

Can't get cash from ATMs, and can't pay with debit or credit in the daytime at liquor stores. Only cash, so if you don't have any then you're assed out. Everything, is at, a HALT! :( and I'm starving cuz I live on my own, can't cook and its super hot with no AC |

Because it actually takes out all small electronics...and all newer cars.. Quoting: Butterfly girl Unless it was a selective EMP attack. That is bullshit you idiot. There cannot be a "selective" EMP attack. If it's big enough to blow out the power grid it's big enough to take out small electronics. Guess you did not pay attention during your electrical engineering studies. You don't think they have these EMPs honed to a sharp edge? I do. I think they can bust any frequency they choose. They could blow out your butt vibrator n not phase your electric razor. These people are diabolical! |

Gil Alexander, a spokesman for Southern California Edison, said the power outage did not cause any safety issues. Alexander said a fluctuation in power caused the reactors to shut down at 3:38 p.m. but that the overall plant continues to have power. He said the system worked as it was supposed to during a loss of power. Across San Diego, businesses are closed, traffic is snarled and the trolley system is down. San Diego International Airport was on backup generators. There were reports that power was also out in southern Orange County, Imperial County, Tijuana, Arizona and Palm Springs. ***** I know i post a lot from The Intel Hub but its one of my top fav sites and always as good news.. Don't they usually just "stick it to the man"? Not 5,000,000 people at once imo. I think the real doom here is how fragile the whole system is. |

Companies have built power plants near the United States - Mexico border with the aim of exporting generation to the United States. The Mexican external electricity trade is carried out through nine interconnections between the United States and Mexico and one interconnection with Belize. These connections have primarily been used to import and export electricity during emergencies. In 2007, Mexico exported 1.3 TWh of electricity to the United States, while importing 0.6 TWh.
