Damn.. Power went out while at gun range. Drive home was insane. Got ice at 7-11 on qay home. Got last bags, normal price, yay.. We are using our solar yard ligjts around house. They take AA too. Heard idea on radio, works great esides all our reg lights. Power on some places already. Using cell.. yay GLP fix. haha We are on an extraordinary comservation water advisory and boiling advised. We have water. All is good. =)

Re: Massive power outage in San Diego/Orange County/Tijuana/Parts of AZ
Solar flares take about 8 minutes to reach earth. Coronal Mass Ejections (CME's) take a few days. Neither had anything to do with this.
 Quoting: Doompa Loompa

Solar flares emit x rays and other frequencies of electromagnetic energy that travel at the same speed as visible light, meaning it take about 9 minutes to reach Earth from the Sun.

These frequencies of EMR are not the cause of power grid failures related to solar flares, but do have biological consequences, especially when we get a tremendous blast of UV and x rays like the last X class flare produced.

Coronal mass ejections vary in velocity and are composed of particle radiation from the Sun in the form of plasma. Some CME's have reached Earth in under 12 hours and others have taken a week to fully arrive. The velocity of the ejection of material determines how long it takes to reach Earth, generally the more energetic the eruption the higher the velocity.

Your statement may or may not be correct, but I suspect you don't have a clue what you're talking about really.

We have holes in our magnetosphere that are allowing radiation to penetrate to the surface and NO ONE, not you , not me, not NASA and not NOAA has any idea what the effects will be in a given location because the situation is so fluid and it is so unpredictable where these holes will be on any given day.

A perfect storm like event could cause mass death and failure of electronic equipment in a localized area, while leaving surrounding areas unaffected.. It is conceivably possible to have a grid overload in a localized area from a less than total failure of the magnetosphere, meaning some areas would be totally unaffected while others were bathed in particle radiation.

I definitely would not rule out effects from solar radiation storms as the cause, and I am probably as knowledgeable in this field of study as any other person on this planet.

I am also aware that this problem is intentionally being downplayed and data is being filtered, altered and even totally withheld that is critical to the future survival of not only our own species, but most of the species on this planet.

You sound like you're here to downplay the severity of the problem and it's implications, am I correct?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1199845

I don't claim to be an expert. I was just pointing out the difference between the two, and my opinion that neither are the cause based on timing, recent similar events, and all the information available to me.
 Quoting: Doompa Loompa

I'll make a prediction for you personally. Within a year you will be aware that you were lied to about many things that are threatening your existence, one of them being changes in the solar system, the earth and the Sun.

This will become transparently obvious when the worlds agricultural infrastructure fails to produce all but a fraction of it's normal output, causing a world wide famine, something that is going to happen, it's not if, it's how long can they put it off.

This planet is currently experiencing an extinction level event that has already killed or brought into serious decline hundreds, if not thousands of species, and it is all being withheld from the public to prevent a breakdown in the social structure.
While it is unlikely to cause an extinction of the human race in the short term, the long term outlook is dim for future life on this planet, which is not only heating on the surface, but internally. Couple this with the inevitable geological upheavals that are accompanying this increased energy output from the Sun, and this precludes long term survival under the ground or by using bunkers concealed in geological formations.

The shocking reality is that unless there is a sudden reversal of current trends, by the year 2050 the planet will be dead, uninhabitable by all but the hardiest of species.
This ELE is being caused primarily by a radical increase in solar radiation and plasma reaching the Earth from the Sun.

Why is there not 1 pic of this event from someones phone
 Quoting: closing eyes

A dark pic? Actually I didn't think to, I could have taken pics of the freeway at 4pm... messy!!! Maybe empty ice at local 7/11. lol I had put my phone away because cell towers were out besides texting.

Lights just came on here, we've been listening on 2 way radio, hearing as places light up via some guy in his "bat cave" lol.. Sounds like he has a pretty good view of this whole area.

Power Outages (CANADA) Winnipeg, MB

Power outages are happening across Winnipeg, Manitoba. That's central Canada. Any connection to the power outages in the USA?

Traffic was crazy, intersections were clogged, people driving like idiots.. The first 1.5 hours everyone was after ice. Cash only everywhere. Stores closed immediately as far as we could tell. 7/11's were open. Power is still out for most of my family locally. I've had it about 45 minutes now.

Water is still out. I'm not sure how widely that problem is. I'm still re plugging things in and such.

I'm hearing this guy on radio saying there is looting. Not in my area, and haven't heard any gun shots or anything. lol

Why did this all happen on the anniversary of 9/11 ?

I'm guessing it's for one reason only. To convince/reinforce the SHEEPLE further that there really is an outside threat to you such as terroists, Al Quaeda etc. To give TPTB justification for introducing laws that in reality only further reduce your privacy and freedoms in the guise of protecting your safety.

Further diverting people from seeing the TRUTH.

THANK GOD - WE HAVE LIGHTS AGAIN!!! They actually woke me up just now. I had a feeling that would happen. We had an interesting evening, wow, craziness. The bags of ice went quick. Everyone was spreading rumors about the cause of the outage (we are in northern San Diego county). It was caused by a worker in Yuma who was doing a repair and didn't take a precaution which send the whole grid into a shutdown, so we have been told. All the kids are excited, as they get tomorrow off. Power began to come on here and there, little by little, around 9pm, I think, but it was 1:30am here when it happened. We all got to see our neighbors for a change. I enjoyed the stars, saw a lot of shooting ones, although each time I wondered if it was just a UFO zipping by. Seemed to be way fewer stars than there should be, still. Weird. I have my own theories on that one. When the outtage hit, around 3:38pm here, my friend was monitoring the news and the electric company's "chatter". They were completely baffled by the cause, so then everyone began to create their own theories. I heard a lot of sirens the first hour. Traffic was dead stop hell, people were running out of gas, pulling over, unable to get home, flights down becuz TSA couldn't process passengers, etc. There was talk of hundreds of elevators with people in them having to be rescued. I feel like it was just a taste of what it will be like later on, like a practice run or something. A chance for everyone to see what level of "prepared" they are, so to speak. Was surely a rare and unforgettable event here in So. Cal, for sure.

Reminds me of an episode of '24' when one big thing happens which leads to another which leads to another which leads eventually to the big reveal and end plan. Let's see what happens next on this auspicious weekend.

My biggest concern was for those in our east county where temps were in the 100's, and even more so in hotter areas like Arizona, New Mexico, etc. who were out, and also those on medical machines in homes. Was also thinking of what a shame it was that the meat and dairy at the stores was all gonna rot, and cause a shortage for a while. Too funny how tomorrow was supposed to begin the strike for the grocery store workers union, too ironic.

Over 370,000 customer now with power. Areas of Borrego, Lake Hodges more of Rancho Bernardo, Mira Mesa and Poway have power. #sdoutage

Still leaves about 1.5 million customers without power. Not counting mexico I think.
