From what I understand there is a cord that is attached to your spirit to your body. I was out of my body, but was too freaked out to notice any cord. I guess anything is possible though. I think that when people are possessed the spirit of the person is still there, but just taken over until driven out.. just my take on it. Maybe others will chime in.
