Great mate, keep up the good work. You need to make a few correction in that data Grant. These are the current figures. There is a lot more to peace the puzzle together but we are getting there, keep spreading the word. Lots of big storms in 1969 popped up between 14th august and 25th of august. The 1940īs had more storms on record than any other decade. The storms now will get bigger, the oceans are warmer giving the energy needed to spawn giant storms. |

According to unisys data the 1969 period was the worst on record for the Atlantic, as far as strenght and number of hurricanes go, not storms, as storms could include many other weather events other than hurricanes. Though as you can see in the above table, 1933 had more Tropics Storms [TS] but not as intense or severe as 1969. Even so, 2005 has cracked most records. |

So far Opal in 1995 is the closest to a late September powerfull Hurricane I can find, but OPAL was a cat 4 so no prize for that one. I think we may of broken yet another record, but its not final unless I can download all the data and write a little app to check it. If this be the case, RITA will be the only Mid to late september cat 5 to of ever formed since records begun back in 1851. |

Let us not forget we are getting "global warming" on EVERY PLANET IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM! Hmmm, what sort of manufacturing are we doing on the sun? (This question is not as goofy as it might seem.) "warm water" thats powering these hurricanes why is it that massive hurricanes have been observed on Mars; a planet that has no oceans or atmosphere to speak of? might it be that these storms are powered electrically, that is, by solar activity and its charging up of the earths magnetosphere/ionosphere? just a thought... |

A/C 3, 1) The storms on Mars are not even remotely "hurricanes". 2) They arenīt very powerful. Yes they have respectable wind speeds, but the atmosphere is so thin that if you were smack dab in the middle of one (properly attired, of course), you would barely feel it! For really violent weather, you need to look to the outer planets. Wind speed on Neptune can reach 1500mph!!! |

Well, well, well now you have Hurricane Vince out of nowhere bearing down on Europe, watch as the scientist scramble to increase their predictions a third time but shall offer no explanation as storms approach 30. Oh in case you forgot the average storm season in the Atlantic is 10. In 2006 hurricane will assault the coast, but new problems will arise as earthquakes make their presence known. |

"The 1940´s had more storms on record than any other decade. The storms now will get bigger, the oceans are warmer giving the energy needed to spawn giant storms." That is interesting because they believe the "dust bowl" in the USA in the late 1930s was caused by unusually warm ocean water. |

The forties do not beat the period 1995 to 2004. The average from 1940 to 1949 was 9.3 storms per year you can look it up in hurricane archives or at [link to www.wunderground.com] tropical |

Itīs obvious that the trend is not going well. The prior year witnessed record number of tornadoes. The ice caps are melting at accellerating rates. The earth is now rounder as the equator is bulging back. The melting ice moves towards the equator due to centrifigal force. We are experiencing earthquakes in diverse places because of the redistribution of weight on the tectonic plates. |
