Something Weird in Google Sky + GS Navigating Tips

If you want to see something really weird in Google Sky, click the following link then do the following:


The Following:

Copy the numbers that appear on the next line...

10:08:10.01 , 11:56:55.1

Click this Link: [link to www.google.com]

Click on 'Infrared' (at the top right of the screen)

Paste the numbers you copied into the Google Sky search box at the top left of the screen.

Then click 'Search'

Voila`

If you're wondering how to pin point any place on Google Sky and tell your friends, you have to do a little calculating...

If you place your cursor over the blue object, you will see numbers in the lower left hand part of the screen which are very similar to:

10h 8m 10.s 11° 56' 55.1" (note the 10.s)

If you want to send these coordinates to a friend, you're going to have to translate them into:

10:08:10.01 , 11:56:55.1


I don't know what the '.s' stands for, but I inserted a '.01' and it worked...

Here were the calculations I used in case it will be of any help...

This is the example I got from fishing around Google Sky:

5:34:32.01, 32:00:45.96 was in the Search Box and 5h 34m 46.0s 32° 0' 45.96" was in the lower left hand corner of the screen...


First Number = 5:34:32.01, shows 5h 34m 46.0s (E-W Coords)

Second Number = 32:00:45.96 shows 32° 0' 45.96" (N-S Coords)

(To type the degree character, press alt + 0167 on keypad)


1st# = 5h 34m 46.0s = 5:34:32.01 (E-W Coords)

2nd# = 32° 0' 45.96" = 32:00:45.96 (N-S Coords)

also: 32.012766666666664,-96.366625 (copy/pastable - do NOT use hyphen)


eg: 1st#: = 5h 34m 46.0s = 5:34:32.01 (E-W Coords)
Actual: = 10h 8m 10.s = 10:08:10.01

eg: 2nd#: = 32° 0' 45.96" = 32:00:45.96
Actual: = 11° 56' 55.1" = 11:56:55.1

finis: (separated by comma)

10:08:10.01 , 11:56:55.1

BTW, I have no idea what that blue thing is on the Google Sky screen. I just found it by accident. (What if it's the Blue Kachina? - Nah!)
