our currency is made of cotton not wood AC...

so it never goes to zero huh? that is what is great about it? even in a hyperinflationary collapse the currency doesn't go to zero, it just gets revalued into something else. So I guess fiat and your gold are one in the same then huh?

All bullshit aside. Sitting on gold long term is the absolute dumbest thing you can do.

No I actually invest in things that give me a return on my capital instead of sitting on a shiny metal that has absolutely no use besides decoration...

Silver and gold were big in the 70s and 80s too. In fact the current bubble in silver didn't even reach the last one, not even having to adjust for inflation. If you sat on it long term through all that, you were a moron. If you put your capital to work in the market, even just 10,000 in an s&p 500 index fund, you made a small fortune.

This just means, if true, that the market for physical metal is thin. It could be high, or low, but it's likely to be volatile because of being thin.

If those dealers are too proud of their physical, they could be stuck with it at even lower prices.

that Greek bond will be worthless.

At least if you buy the American treasury you get some return and get to keep your money.

This is quite a situation over in Europe.
Not sure how this will get fixed.
Could this be THE collapse?
I don't think so. There is alot more money printing yet to happen.

Well Bernanke IS doing the Twist ... keeping long-term USD rates down. Does our economy benefit from this? Are businesses borrowing USD to open factories and operations here? Um, nope.

I think I saw bond prices implying the two-year probability of default in Greek bonds is something like 50%, mostly loaded into the first year. Something on zerohedge. But the prices you quote are much more benign; at most a 25% probability of default over 10 years.

Thank god everything in the world economy is alright again. Oh wait, i forgot this selloff is driven by computer algorithms comex margin hikes and central bank selling all in an effort to save the morgue.

Nothing whatsoever has changed or been fixed. Anyone stuck in paper is going to lose everything.

Anyone who owns physical gold and silver right now and is nervous about this selloff didnt understand the reasoning for buying in the first place. I just hope these cheap prices last long enough for me to buy more.

Re: <<<Commodities ROLLER COASTER ride>>>Spot Gold (-3%) Silver (-3%) Platinum (-3%) 9/26/11 revised last 10:48amCDT
Preface, I'm bearish and deflationary. The last couple of weeks have been especially painful. I'm holding out for something better in the future, but I see it fitting that all this is happening around this week. My eyes are open and I'm working on my heart for what's ahead.

I've been angry over the gold price ever since it started its parabolic upturn several months ago. "It's going up too fast, there's nowhere else for it to go, this shouldn't be happening." I've been long since Sept 2007 and have not made any adjustments to my position. I got a tickle to sell around 1800 on the way up and I question I only slightly regret not doing so. I will probably keep my position just to cover all possibilities.

I expect that when hard times are upon most, people will roll over for whatever TPTB have for them and this means new fiat currencies and the further forced whoring of their birthrights to keep their bellies full and televisions on. People need the power of government or else the provision for stability is completely gone. There will be no revolution. Governments will seek the least painful methods to ensure people can eat and have shelter at the cost of everything else.

Gold and silver will eventually become illegal currency as everything in this world is on loan from central bankers and the families behind them. We will truly realize that we as holders of FRNs are slaves to our debtors. But we will embrace it.

I intend to let my position ride. The shaking that is upon us has physical and spiritual causes and consequences. God answer all whom seek wisdom.

great analysis, I agree.

CGNAO (& his hyperinflationary scenario from 2004) said it will be so, 100% correct, guaranteed. He said this would happen step-by-step, he has been absolutely correct 100% up to now.

this is how it works:

$2 was the old $1 back in the day...

then $5 was the new $2.. then about 10 years ago, $10 was the new $5.

a few years ago $20 was $10 and now.. $50 is the old $20..

witch all started from a dollar.

do you understand???

now, translate that into gold:

gold has been moving rapidly... it is getting more volitile,

apply the above dollar theory (100% proven!!) and we are heading into VERY LARGE SWINGS.

every time gold drops by a 'large' percentage, the next time it climbs, it climbs faster.

technically, we are about to see over $100 swings very soon.

this is partly due to computer trading, partly due to supply and demand, partly due to mining costs, partly due to governments and banks buying more than at any point in time in the last 20 years.

the people/banks/governments would be scrounging to buy right now,
they aren't selling... they are probably adding to their stack.

i know i am..

im about to build an empire out of all this..

just watch me.

Gold is worth about 400 dollars and silver about 10.
The market for these items was intentionally manipulated to fleece the flock.

I'll give Ben the benefit of the doubt. Absolutely everything I buy has gone up in price over the past 2 years. Certainly inflation would seem to be the indication. But stagflation (via the lowering wages) is indicating deflation.

Oh Ben... you know you want controlled, orderly deflation.

he gave dates for the banking system to crash around 3 weeks before they did back in 2008. Posters hang on his every word.

This seems Appropriate

"Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you."
"Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten."
"Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days."
"Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabbath."
"Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter."
"Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you. "
"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain."
"Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh."James 5:1-8

Certain banks that received significant tax payer funds have been accused of "hoarding cash on their balance sheets". They refuse to lend any of it (deflationary). After a crash across the board in stocks, commodities, and metals, they will spend that cash for assets on the cheap.

It could be the market manipulation is making everything look risky except U.S. Treasuries. They fear a dollar collapse so have to take all other safe havens away to prevent it.

Just banks closing their gold positions and taking their profits to cover the abyssal losses in their balance sheets before the end of the month for their monthly report.
Otherwise it will look very very ugly.

The RSI for gold is already at the bottom, gold will not go further down.
It will go up again after the 1rst of October.
