Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2441948 every modern country should have a 80% unemployment rate. 75% of all hours worked are unnecessary time sponge to occupy the time of those that might realise how pointless what they are doing is. Machinery, robots (not cyborgs, assembly line currently in-use technology) and computers were all supposed to free mankind from soul crushing mind numbing needless labour. instead each 'advance' in fact creates more huge work for works sake 'industries'. 'revolutionaries' are arguing about interest rates, creating employment and 'fiscal realities' that aren't real. truly revolting. That's laughable. They adapted an old NC xy table with a z arm that's been around for decades and had it squirt cement, so what. Call me when it's I Robot time |

Quoting: Dr. House For decades the Auto industry has been using robots for most of its assembly line process, from spot welding to painting, from sewing upholstery to assembling the engine. This has been a running trend since the advent of the Industrial Robot, essentially an arm running of a computer program. Today we have computers building computers, There really is no need for humans in the process of building your laptop or old school PC. Today we are seeing automation in even the service industry while you can either deal with a human pushing your store-bought items pass a laser reader, or you can do it yourself and deposit either cash or swipe a card through a reader without standing there wondering if some one asking you 'How are you today' means they really want to know about your latest bunion, or if they are just saying at as a programed response. Today I was introduced to the machine that will remove even my job. They have a machine that will 'print' a full house in a week, compared to what a team of men can build in a month. If the machines are taking over all the jobs, then how are we to make money? being in the businesses of designing that stuff I say no way in our lifetime. considering that it already exists today, it is happening in our lifetime I've forgotten how to fly, Living in the prison of my mind How am I supposed to reach heaven in the sky with the door to this cage locked tight |

They have a machine that will 'print' a full house in a week, compared to what a team of men can build in a month. Quoting: Dr. House We don't need men nor machines to build houses. Nobody is buying anyway. Society will have to get educated, and prepare to perform more complex tasks. Tasks which requires a brain. What we are seeing now is machines taking over tasks from people with little or no education. And as technology advances, machines will be able to perform more complex tasks, and therefore, replace more people. But technology serves us. Technology makes our lives easier and allow us to be much more productive. And there are, and will continue to be plenty of jobs for people with an education, and with a better salary I might add. Even today, with the current unemployment rate, there are still plenty of jobs which are not being filled because there are too few people with an appropriate education. Companies have been complaining about this for years already. Last Edited by Psych on 10/01/2011 07:45 PM |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2399064 and that will never happen. Automation is not a cancer. It is the cure to the biggest disease people have, The monetary system.
