Yes, this was definitely demonic. Poor soul. And this happened in a church, no less, where his 'mental problem' should not only have been recognized for what it was, but healed, if the parishioners and priests were truly Christians (i.e., followers of Jesus).

What a sad commentary on the state of Christianity, this story is. No wonder Jesus said: "When the son of man returns, will he find faith on earth?"
