Do you receive The Witness of the Holy Ghost when you read The Scriptures?
Do you receive The Witness of the Holy Ghost when you read The Scriptures?

I am not a "studied" man. In my nearly 21 years of being Born-Again and having the Holy Spirit Dwell within me; God never directed me to "study" The Holy Scriptures. I have not, in fact, read the entire Bible.

The above statement makes me a heretic in the eyes of many Christians. Yet, for almost 21 years, I have sought HIS Will, not my own; and lived in HIS Accord and Blessing. I have always sought God in prayer; going to HIM Directly, not trying to find my answers in random Bible reading. God always directed me, and when no answer was forthcoming; that was too, an answer and I lived in accord with HIS Will.

Posting my first witness here in GLP Forum last March was a suprise. Coming from a catholic background and never being led to "join" a church; I was not familiar with how most Christians want to "test the spirits" with Scripture. Yet, the Holy Spirit led me and enabled me to give proof to the witness HE led me to post.

The Holy Spirit guides my thinking; enabling my every word, thought, and deed. I have a pretty good memory for Scripture I have heard preached. A searchable Bible is a tremendous Blessing for one who has not done a rote memorization of chapter and verse. By repetition, and revisitation, I have come to Know many that comprise The Witness of Christ Jesus; but I was never led to "study" them, I was led by God to live in accord with HIS Will.

Is there a difference? I think so. It is my discernment and witness that God Calls us To HIM and then gives us Knowledge of HIS Will for us each day, and the ability to carry it out. Not every day is task oriented, often our task is to be willing and seeking HIM.

Yet, The Holy Spirit, who Dwells within those who are Born-Again; does Direct our lives. Perhaps the many ways in which HE Directs us is a good topic for another article. This one needs to get back on track about how HE guides us with HIS Witness when we read the Holy Scriptures.

I previously stated that my articles and posts have been of a witness format; they comprise what I have Known and Seen in my Born-Again experience. The Holy Spirit has guided me to support my witness. This is natural, since God is directing me to give it.

One of the most basic, yet most misrepresented matters in this Laodicean church age, is that of what it means and how we become, Born-Again.

The Gospel of John ch 3, is primarily devoted to Jesus´ Direct Witness about how vital it is to become Born-Again.

I have witnessed repeatedly about the 3 times Jesus said we must be Born-Again (vs 3, 5,& 7), and the three conditional words included that Believers "should" become Born-again, (15, 16 & 17). And also how Jesus says plainly "Believers are not condemned" (18). These comprise the fact that we must do MORE than simply Believe in Jesus to be saved.

Verse 14 was revealed to me by The Holy Spirit. Matthew Henry and others do not understand what Jesus Witnessed when HE said, "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up."

Matthew Henry, (I just checked to verify) and even other study guides attribute this "lifting up of the serpent" to the pole in the desert with the brass snake on it that cured the snakebit Hebrews.

The Holy Spirit witnessed to me months ago that the serpent Jesus means is the one Moses had to overcome fear of in Exxodus 4:3-4; the first time God told Moses to cast down his staff/rod and it turned into a snake. I have written of that here on this forum months ago.

I have stated that verse 14 was that we have to "take action" in our lives to Lift Up Jesus; just as Moses had to overcome his fear and pick up the snake by the tail. God tells Moses how to pick up the snake.

I have never had to "prove" this to myself; but tonite I sought to and found the Witness the Holy Spirit had given me and HE confirmed it again for me tonite. My Bible with study notes, and the online Matthew Henry both cite the acccount in Numbers 21:9.

Moses has to Take Action, while the Hebrews just have to "look upon" the brass snake to be cured. Very incongruous to me to think that God would have intended Christ Jesus to be the more perfect form and type of that brass image; especially one of a "serpent".

The Action we have to take is Witnessed more fully by Jesus in John 12:25 "He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal." To become Born-Again we have to give up our Self, our Life, To The Father. This is the Leap of Faith that we must conquer our fears and doubts in order to realize that we must Abide IN-HIM or be miserable.

This topic is not so much a discussion of How To Come Unto The Father as it is to give witness of How The Holy Spirit guides our thinking and imparts HIS Knowledge to us through the Scriptures.

Matthew 13:12 is even more concrete as to what is happening in the lives of Born-Again Christians in these Final Moments:
[10] And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
[11] He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
[12] For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
[13] Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

There are many dilligent and earnest Believer=Seekers, striving to KNOW God. Yet, only by the unconditional Surrender inherent to the process of Coming Unto The Father, will they KNOW HIM who they are seeking.

You cannot know HIM, before you KNOW HIM.

I know how you can bear witness to the Father Lester. When I was pulled out by the Father he said "Come out of her!" thats how I bore witness to him, when he pulled me out in front of him. So if you want to meet the Father, dont you need to be in her? until he pulls you out of her

Why not witness of your experience to the forum?

When I speak of "hearing The Witnes of The Holy Spirit" as I read The Bible, or do anything else, it is marked by a greatly enhanced awareness and understanding which HE Enables for me.

It is time for HIS People to separate themselves from the world.

So, OP, you haven´t read the bible? Perhaps you should, since you´ve devoted your life to its value system. Start with the old testament, and read about the misery and destruction caused by the tryannical, blood-thirsty demiurge of a diety that was the Jehovah of the Israelites.

Here you go, OP, have a good read:

What a twisted, murdering, cruel value system judeo-christianity is. If only Abraham had never lived, the world might have been spared the insanities of Judaism, Xianity and Islam. Too late. We have them all, and look where we are.

Why Born-Againers are Satan´s Children

9:11 pm EST Why Born-Againers are Satan´s Children

Why Born-Againers are Satan´s Children

You won´t find a Born-Againer that doesn´t quote from John 3:1-21.

Importantly, were the lord Christ´s words directed to his disciples in the context of John 3:1-21?

The context of John 3:1-21 has the lord Christ speaking to a representative of Satan, a Pharisee, a fellow by the name of Nicodemus. Jesus wasn´t averse to speaking with Satan himself as the account of Mathew 4: 4-11 illustrates. No less then would Jesus not speak to any of Satan´s agents including Nicodemus.

Like all Pharisees, Nicodemus was a Gnostic, having learned it in the rabbinic Mystery Schools that originated during the Hebrew captivity in Babylon circa the 6th century BC. Be it said therefore:-

Like Satan, Pharisees were enemies of Truth.
Pharisees were Christ Killers.
Nicodemus was a Pharisee.
Nicodemus remained a Pharisee.
Nicodemus remains charged a Christ Killer.

Nicodemus had one ´redeeming´ quality. He was a coward. He came to the lord Christ under the cloak of darkness. And scripture is quite clear on how God views cowards.

It is the Nicodemus type of God hater and Chist Killer that takes up these words of the lord Christ in a vain attempt to establish their own self-righteousness. Lester is onesuch a Nicodemus.

Born Again translates from the Greek "Gennethey Anothen". This is important in discovering the self-righteousness of the modern Born-Againer.

Outside of John´s gospel there is little to no discussions, in scripture, by the lord Christ directed to his disciples about Born Again. If John´s gospel wasn´t included in the cannon who would know about the "Gennethey Anothen" that the Pharisees and Pharisee-like God haters had to repent toward?

If Gennethey Anothen were a paramount doctrine for disciples of Christ why is there such an incredible absence, in scripture, of endless discussions by the lord Christ with his disciples? Why? Yes, why?

This is not hard to fathom.

So...having determined that Born-Againism is directed by the lord Christ towards Nicodemus-like Prevaricators, what is the Gospel that genuine Christians must preach and to what, or to whom, is it they must Witness

********************************************

The gospel that is to be preached is that Jesus came and died for the sins of the world, and what we are to Witness is that He rose from the dead. But of course unless you actually have testimony that He rose from the dead, then you are not to Witness anything, because Jesus clearly instructed the disciples that they were to wait until the Holy Spirit had come upon them before they began the great commission of Witnessing Him to the world, and that same goes for the disciples today.

Lester!!!!
You start your post out by saying you´ve never read or studied and then by the end of your post you´re quoting scripture (that you say you´ve never read) and quoting commentaries by Matthew Henry to which you´ve said you´ve never "studied." Then why my friend are you quoting verses, chapter and commentaries??

People think it´s the understanding of the Holy Spirit when it´s actually their own ego and pride.

You can make book that whenever a person uses the bible as a weapon for elitism, specialness and to condemn others...their translation came from themselves and not from the Big Guy.

Lester wrote, in fact he had never read the ´entire´ bible...it means he had read some of it not none of it....please read carefully people.

In all honesty lester, if you feel God is with you then that is good enough. I myself have not read all of the bible, i mainly read the new testement over and over again but not much on the old testement. I think what i have read of the bible is enough to reinforce my faith. The bible can sometime be written in our hearts without us really knowing.

The fact that Christians only knowledge of God and Man´s purpose on this Earth comes from one book, the Bible, means their only interest is their personal "salvation". They´ve stopped at a roadside attraction on The Path and mistaken it for the Goal.

Only the very elect will know HIM. We see what He has to work with.

sigh

You all had time to make the choice. Now you´re complaining because you are not experiencing what Jesus was talking about when He said "I and the Father are one."

So I will add support to Lester´s witness with my own.

It was a very scarey thing to do (for me) and I waited until the last moment...

But before sunset on Yom Kippur I surrendered my will to the Father. Then I lived my life like I normally did. Something about what Lester had witnessed about Prodigals I felt applied directly to me. So I quietly did what he witnessed I should do.

On the first full moon following Yom Kippur I woke up and felt directly connected to Father Creator of All Things. HIS HOLY SPIRIT resides within and I do HIS will.

Now that I know HIM (i.e. I can feel what it feels like to have this connection) I will never lose it.

And I just want to say THANK YOU LESTER for being sooooo brave. HIS will be done when we are obedient to HIS WORD.

The Witness of Christ Jesus (The Gospel) is that we can KNOW God Directly and Personally. My witness is that Abiding With God is the "thing", the "it"; our purpose in life, if God has Called our heart.

My witness is that The Holy Spirit will instruct us in what we need to Know, when we need to Know it. I became very reliant On-HIM for Guidance and Witness when posting Scripture on this and other forums. HE Guided me to the correct passage and also showed me HIS Truth clearly. This happens often when I read HIS Word, though not every time.

If you Abide In-HIM, you may have this same experience.

====================

I wouldn´t say it is so much that we want to test the spirits with Scripture, but we know that God is consistent with Scripture, and he does not contradict it.

So, if someone comes and says such and such is truth, and if Scripture denies that ´truth´, then we reject it.

So, if God is really God, then He is smart enough not to go around contradicting Himself all the time.
