These should be thought of as season extenders. You can easily extend your grow season thirty days in the spring and another thirty to forty five in the fall. An idea I never pursued was some sort of fold-up design or perhaps a hinged design.

a way of going about using digital survival reference books to your advantage from internet to the field before the SHTF

many compilations of survival info are in PDF format
another way is to set up your computer to print webpages into a pdf file
Use free pro-ocr demos of retail software for the ocr on scanned images without text, often whole books are images of text on its original hardcopy pages, you cant get the text to copy paste.
Copy all text, paste in windows 'notepad'. Meaning the simple program, standard, free on every windows pc.

save notepad file
make second copy of file
edit for content
make sections of info by separating the parts of the overall text and chapters using the subheadings as section titles, down to approx page sized or less items, or short pamphlet/brochure length size text files
remove unwanted parts
run through notepad++ and clean the edited text remove blank front & Back of lines
set a hotkey
below info block headings, select the body of sentences.
hit the hotkey to make the paragraph body stretch out onto one long continuous line.
put in notepad
after logging the keystrokes in a macro recording
use a robot macro text editor program to rip the file apart

save all cleansed, separated, titled files
a simple search engine can call up and titles keywords
use preview to see notepad files contents in the documents folder without opening the file itself.

to advance the database
mmake images of each notepad file
use a screen capture program to film your desktop
or your camera itself
in useable size video files, by scrolling the images of an open section.
you time the scroll and stop a short instant at each title down the videos running film of the scroll.
make the desktop capture play on your cameras hdmi by recording with camera.
this way (despite the gps giving away your position)
you can take and use entire books on video where using alphabetical listed sections on the videos you play, you can pause at every section to see the clear image of text.

because aside from the homestead wtf good is survival info otherwise once your bugged out in the bush?
