Peru Struck by 6.9 Magnitude Earthquake OCT 28th 2011
A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Friday near the coast of central Peru, the US Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported the quake hit at a depth of 9.3 miles (15 kilometers) some 32 miles (52 kilometers) south of Ica and 186 miles (299 kilometers) south-southeast of Lima.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a widespread tsunami warning

near the coast of central Peru
