Yes, they did.
Cancer is their go-to MO.
So easy to infect people with it.
Think about all the whistle-blowers, truth tellers; politicians, doctors, military, economic, entertainment folks that all died of cancer.

I was just 18 and didn't even really know who he was at the time. Just a ride attendant at Universal studios.
