US daren't attack Iran: IRGC Cmdr.

A senior commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the United States cannot afford to venture on a conflict with Iran.


The United States lacks the courage to attack Iran, with regard to the ongoing crises in the region and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, IRNA quoted Brigadier General Yadollah Javani as saying on Thursday.

He added that Washington has under various pretexts been exerting pressure on Tehran since the US sees the Islamic Republic as the focal point of the Islamic Awakening.

The IRGC commander said the enemy, particularly the United States, threatens Iran, and adopts sanctions and resolutions against the country, adding that such measures are aimed at coercing Tehran to hold negotiations with Washington.

Javani pointed to the downfall of the West's “puppet regimes” in the Middle East and emphasized that the capitalist system is on the verge of collapse.

The United States and Israeli regime have repeatedly threatened Tehran with military strikes under the false pretext that Iran's nuclear program may have a covert military diversion.

Iran has refuted the allegations, saying that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iranian officials have vowed to deliver a crushing response to any military strike against the country, warning that any such measure could result in a war that would certainly reach far beyond the Middle East.
