Listening to those people on here who give you bogus advice and will sign off not giving you another thought, or, this is the best? Letting a 16year old who is troubled(again, I do not know what is wrong with you or right either other than you are troubled) make a huge decision for you??? I was not in your state of affairs but I do clearly recall my former 18year old self made very few right decisions for me. A doctor got you the Prozac but as I mentioned there are others who do NOT buy into just prescribing SRIs. Do some work and find one who would evaluate other protocols. You are not easy to help and it does involve your work too. |

I've tried hiding the pill in the pockets of my cheeks but they check everywhere. Quoting: OneEyedWoman I hate Prozac, it makes me feel icky and makes me all loud and numb. I need to know if there are any other ways to trick them! I finally tapered off it and now they are shoving it down my throat again. My brain never shuts off! I didn't know that was a mental illness though/ Quoting: OneEyedWoman I was in counseling for a while but after 2 sessions they stopped taking me. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1692495 Anyway, I think that because of your age, if you said you will choose to move out instead, and call their bluff, they will probably relent. I don't know?? Parents have a say so in there child untill 18 right? Fixing to try that! Nope, could always fake a pregnancy!! That would cause more problems though fake an allergic reaction too it. like a skin rash etc. prozack is awfully strong. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1560589 try putting it in the creases of your hand. under the back of your tongue. or using a non clear cup and slip it back in the water. that last one even worked for chicks i knew in prison. Cup thing, good idea!!! Acutally whole post good idea!! I had you pegged older than that. Always thought you were in your 20s. Anyhow, my personal battle with depression when I was younger was something that meds couldnt fix. Like you the symptoms on the medecine were WAY worse than the original depression and by symptoms I mean the physical and emotional/mental. For me it was something I had to work out in my own head, not because I was "wired" wrong which is what they like to say to push meds on you. Looking back now it all seems so silly and I wish I hadnt wasted my late teens and early 20s feeling down all the time. Hopefully you will be able to look back one day too and smile. I suggest to you that you take a break from DOOM and GLP. Its hard to gain a positive outlook on life when everyday you come on here and hear stories of how shitty the world is and how there is no hope for humanity. Everyone thinks that, I don't know why. Thanks for the advice! It is silly to feel down all the time! Depression is a defense mechanism for bad times. Well to me it is. When something goes wrong I just clamp up and sometimes I have a hard time opening back up! Just scared of hurt. LMAO I should take a break, it is pretty morbid in here, but doom is exciting! When it comes to medical, kids usually have a say starting at age 14. However, if your parents are in cahoots with the doc, they may not give you a say. Are you taking pills or capsules? Capsule I wonder if you maybe have a zinc deficiency, which would show up on your fingernails as little white lies, only bigger than most. My son had that problem and, after a zinc suppliment, was an entirely different person. Quoting: wabishkaeyabe Thats interesting!! I have these white spots on my nails. I have atleast 6. Once they figure out what's going on, agree to stop drugging them only once they do the same for you. Or just out right refuse, and throw it up right in front of them. Sorry if these sound drastic but it your story saddens me. Stand up for yourself, reach out to whoever will listen this is really sad, I know how it can be dealing with overzealous parents. My dad was an alcohol/pain pill abusers and took his anger out on me, and I was often punished for thinking for myself or questioning anythin Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7384198 I'm so sorry about your dad. It can be confusing at times. Your not still there are you? Thank you, and no I am 28 now and have been on my own for years. My awakening came much later in life than it appears yours did, for awhile I struggled with coping with what I went through but now I have found the strength of my soul again and my past no longer haunts me. I am strong, healthy and wise, and feel great. You will too. I'll say a prayer for that. Good ! Don't ever let it go, just because you had bad parents doesn't mean your a bad person Thank you Holy shit! Quoting: MrSirius 7383789 Prozac is not good for you. At all! Here's and idea, do a bunch of research on it and find all of the bad stuff/side effects and show your research to your parents. If they aren't evil they will definitely take you off! Love and light to you! I guess they are evil I've showed him the research and theyve deemed bullshit! But I'll keep showing Wow, I'm s so sorry, im 17 and used to be into drugs too, I got clean and then a little depressed so my parents put me on pills but than I did alot of research on the pills and showed them how unhealthy they were. Just keep trying I know from experience out will work! Stay strong you will get through this! How did you confront them? Did they accpet? Thank you Congrats on getting clean! The most preferred solution would obviously be to talk it out... But it looks like that ship has sailed. Quoting: neko 804027 I'd suggest to contact Child protecting services and have a talk with them. Explain your situation and see if there is any legal action you can take. I would not tell your parents about this meeting. If even that fails...I'm thinking sleigh of hands as well. If your dad hands you the pill, accept it with one hand and immediately start talking to him (look him in the eyes, if he looks back, switch the pill to the other hand, then proceed to "take" the pill with the empty hand. I can't believe your parents won't listen to you and at least give it a try. If you do well off of it great, if not you can always go back on. You could always try natural remedies too. Geeze, you're 16, not 6...it's sad that they're treating you this way. From what I've heard, you're not suppose to go off of antidepressants without a doctor's okay due to possible withdrawal issues, so it's unfair that your parents won't listen to you so you can taper off with the doc's help. You quitting and then your parents making you take it can cause issues with the on, off, on and then back off again. Please be careful. I'd do what others have suggested and give your parents the stats on these drugs and the bad things they can do. If being on Prozac is causing you to have suicidal thoughts, you need to tell your parents about it, as that's a side effect with this medication (especially in teens). They'd be crazy to keep you on it with those side effects!! My doc. put me on Effexor. I trusted all she said about the medication, as she'd never steered me wrong before. All she said is that I may be hotter than the people around me in the warm months and colder in the cooler months. Well, that's an understatement...it's more like I boil in the warmer months and freeze in the cooler months. It makes me feel blah as hell too. I've tried getting off this crap twice now, both times by tapering down and I haven't been successful. I hate that I can't just get off this stuff without going through pure hell. I don't know why your dad chucked your vitamin D3. It's been proven that low vitamin D levels can cause depression. I take 5000 I.U.'s a day. My 9 yr. old gets 2000 I.U.'s a day. You should really have your vitamin D level checked if you were having issues with depression. It's also great for keeping you cold and flu free, as it boosts your immunity. I wish you luck and hope something works out for you! Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly and for the same reason. You should really have your vitamin D level checked if you were having issues with depression. It's also great for keeping you cold and flu free, as it boosts your immunity. I wish you luck and hope something works out for you! I looked up brain zaps. I get those alot when I'm on the medication. I thought I had a tumor, those things scare the hell out of me!!! I also get this, aderline rush when I'm on it. Like I'll be laying down and it will start to feel like I'm moving foward 200 mph, my heart beats fast, my blood flows fast. Its freaky. I'll tell! And man My friend took effexor, she said it was horrible!!! I think the doc almost put me on that but my mom said "no put her on prozac." Are you off it now?~?~ Just around and I'll be there, I'm moving into your atmosphere. Romans 8:39 Any other living thing cannot keep us away from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord. If so, why are you attempting to deceive your parents? Lying and not honoring your parents is breaking two commandments at once. You could tell your father, "I know you are tying to do what's best for me, and I appreciate that. However, I feel this medication is causing more harm than good, and I respectfully ask that you don't force me to take it." present him wih any information that pertains to your concerns. You mentioned your parents are psychologists, right? This means they are probably crazier than your average bear, and there may be no reasoning with them. If you aren't willing to take the meds, and the other alternative is to get kicked out of your house, then you need to decide. You're 16 yrs old. You're old enough to join the Job Corps. They'll give you room and board, and education. I would advise against moving in with your boyfriend, especially of you're trying to follow the path of Christ. Good luck. Yes, going against my parents is against the law of God. I'm aware, just desperate. I am going to try reasoning first most definitely! I am taking them for now, but once I get a respectable amount of research done what they do with that determines the next step. Also for the living with the boyfriend, it wouldn't be like shacking up. Hell no!!! He is agreed on the celibate thing, infact I would probably sleep in the guest room cattycorner to the parents room and they hear everything. But its a last resort type of thing. For your research look up Joseph Wesbecker: [link to en.wikipedia.org] And leave literature laying around on AK-47 and other assault rifles, ammo, silencers, etc... I want off this shit now!!!!!!! They say it makes me myself again. But they just don't want to decipher to real problem of my depression. Prozac is poison and they won't listen. My mom and dad are psychologist so they swear by that shit! If you are under 18 and asking for advice, I can't imagine giving you advice to lie to your parents. If it is against your will, call social services. Get a lawyer. You want to trick them? That is the joke, especially on GLP. I can't believe doctors still prescribe Prozac to nutzos in conditions like yours. It must be a lie, because Prozac isn't the popular drug at the moment. |

I've tried hiding the pill in the pockets of my cheeks but they check everywhere. Quoting: OneEyedWoman I hate Prozac, it makes me feel icky and makes me all loud and numb. I need to know if there are any other ways to trick them! I finally tapered off it and now they are shoving it down my throat again. how old are you, hon? sorry, saw the q has been placed before. You look like you're in your early 20s. Well, I'd start by putting some research in front of them showing the dangers of prozac...haven't there been some violent outbursts by peeps blamed on prozac et al. mood changing chemicals? If that doesn't work, look for an identical looking sugar pill that you can switch the whole batch with when they're not looking. I have, deemed it bullshit. [bolded]That is a good idea!!! Will start looking. As reluctant as I am to suggest this because I don't know the whole situation...if the pills are capsules, simply pull each capsule apart, empty medicine into toilet, flush toilet, put very tiny amount of sugar in one half of capsule, ease both halves of capsule back together....voila, sugar pills! I do think you should ask some other doctor to refer you to a different psychiatrist who doesn't know your parents so that YOU get to make the choices that affect your body! Psychotropic drugs are nothing to mess with and I wouldn't take 'em if you paid me!! |

User ID: 1425564 United States 12/19/2011 02:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What are you? Like 13 years old? Just don't take it ,,,, UNLESS you are under 18. In that case you are you should not really be here either. Just my opinion Each time a person stands for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he or she sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. And crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. Few are willing to embrace the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change. He is agreed on the celibate thing, infact I would probably sleep in the guest room cattycorner to the parents room and they hear everything. But its a last resort type of thing. I hope you can communicate respectfully wih your parents. The key is, if you want them to take you seriously, you have to be cool, calm, and collected. However, of they are psychologists, this may be very difficult to do, as they know how to press people's buttons to get a desired reaction. Your 'mental illness' may just be a result of being in an unstable environment. At your age, you need a structured environment. Living with your boyfriend in his parents house may be more than you are emotionally ready for, just because of your age. Even if you are trying to be celibate, there will be a great temptation. Not only that, but you will be living with someone that you have a romantic, emotional relationship with. That will simply be very complicated. I wish you the best, and I hope you find your way. Please look in to Job Corps. It may be exactly what you need. You can get away from a potentially emotionally abusive situation, and maintain a structure way of life. You also get free education. This is something very valuable if you can get it. |
