Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
Back in 1984, the wife and I went hiking in Red River
Suddenly, up on the opposite hillside, we heard a sound of something big crashing through the brush. We could see saplings, a half mile up the hill, moving and shaking. Whatever it was, let out a loud roar. It was coming down that Hill fast, it was big and it was pissed off.

We turned and ran back up the trail to the car. I think we covered that 2 miles in 5 minutes, which was tough because it's very steep. The entire time, we could hear whatever was behind us. It was growling and gaining ground.

Once in the car, we got the hell out of there. Never did see what it was. We stopped a forest ranger and told him we thought a bear had chased us, but he said there were no bears in the park. This was in 84, and it was true then. There are bears now.

I've often thought it might have been bigfoot, but the wife insists it was a bear or a big cat.

It wasn't a cat. Firstly they don't do shit like that and secondly if it was a cat you'd have been dead in seconds.

A bear? Do bears ever get angry or do they just walk up and bat your head off?

People need to be educated in Sasquatch sign language written in the trees and with sticks. They leave clear signs that will tell you not to trespass. Many times you wander into a nursery area where they have the kids and that is what makes them mad. They aren't going to hurt you if you just pack up and leave.

There is a Native American woman who lives in the Arizona mountains who I once heard say that a Sasquatch steals corn out of her field. She sees him do it. She said sometimes at night he taps on her window with his finger. She said he is just trying to communicate. She taps back. The next day she will find a little pyramid of rocks very carefully stacked up outside.

Her story is not unusual - many of the folks on the Rez have similiar stories - most are way more scared than she seemed to be. I never saw one personally -- and never want to.

I was driving down Interstate 20 near Tyler,Texas around one o'clock in the morning. I saw what I can only describe as a black panther run in front of my car and then back into the woods in the blink of an eye. I have been told that there isn't any in Texas tho.
 Quoting: Maurice McMurdo

There are black panthers in East TX! Not naturally though. My wife saw one on a back country rd about 2 am one night. She was going about 10 mph and a huge one strolled across the road in front of her.

There are many others who have seen them. She never believed it until that night.

Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
Saw several UFOs on two consecutive nights in the Hudson River Valley (NY State).

1) Was a low flying red/orange oval shaped craft. Totally smooth and uniform. It gave off no light while at the same time being fully illuminated. I can't say how low it was but the unsettling part was that it made zero noise. It was low enough to us that any known propulsion should have been heard. It flew in a direct line across the sky about 200 yards to the tree line and was gone. Three of us saw it and while we had about 2 minutes to view it, no one could say anything except "Oh my God" a few times. This unfortunately was back when no one had cameras with them 24/7.

2) Same night, a white and blushing round sphere appeared at an unknown distance above a hill. This sphere did produce a halo of light around it. It descended below the hill, didn't see it again. There was no real way to walk to the area we saw this descend.

3) Several times we saw fully triangular crafts WAYYYY up in the sky. Each angle marked with what initially appears to be a "star". Easily mistaken until you saw that three or more were moving in the same direction, shaped in a triangle.

Did this happen in the early 1980s? And was it anywhere near Glens Falls, NY? Just curious.

Back in the early 80s I was night fishing on the clinch River in upper East Tennessee. Nothing around for miles, not even farm houses. My buddy decides to go get some beer from the car.

I could not talk him out of it and felt safer staying there alone than walking 3/4 mile in the pitch dark.

He was gone about 10 minutes when I got a hit and started pulling in what I was sure was a large fish. I got it to the water edge and walked down to get it.

Well to my surprise it was WALKING up to meet me. What I saw was not a fish, it looked like a 6 foot long snake with a huge head and 4 legs. It was hissing and spitting some white foamy stuff. Somehow it spat the hook out but was still coming at me and was not happy.

I made it to the car about the same time as my buddy who had left long before.

Turns out it was some type Salamander that was pretty common in that part of the river. When I heard people talk about them I pictured small lizards not friggin sea monsters.

This is one of GLP's most interesting threads!

Once I was laying on some grass on a hillside while the kids and hubby were playing about 15 yards away. My eyes were closed and I was just listening to them play.

Suddenly a life form darted into/behind my eyes. It was hiding - playing a game with another of it's kind. They were made of light, or possibly lived in the light, and were playing a chasing-hide-and-seek type game.

I was startled and it felt like my eyes were jerking around, sort of involuntarily trying to "see" the creature hiding in my vision. The other "light creature" found the one hiding in my eyes and began to scold with a sort of terror, jerking the hiding one away and out of my eyes.

There was no sound - I understood the emotions, rather than a language. It was like: "excited. . .fun. . .hide here. . .find me. . .what are you doing here!!!. . .this is against the rules. . . get out, now!!!"

I sat up, startled and looking all around me now, with my eyes opened. The whole thing couldn't have lasted more than 2 seconds.

Why do you call them "plasma beings" - where did that term come from? What else do you know about them? In what circumstances have you seen them? What do you mean about "right conditions?"

I am very curious. Thanks.

My Scottish mother use to recite poetry to me. Here is one:

"There is a little man
In the forest green.

He never says a word
But he's often seen.

Tell me who that man can be
Sitting 'neath the Hemlock Tree.

He never says a word
But he's often seen."

Here is to you, Mama, wherever you may be! Xoxo

Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
I have a dozen, I will share this one.

Mid 90's me and buddy used to explore abandoned mines in Nevada/California. One day we decided to explore a few around the monitor pass area along the Cal Nev border.

While exploring this particular mine complex we began to hear a very distinct knocking deeper inside of the mine. The knocks came in pairs and only sounded when we started to walk further inside of the mine. Nothing sounded as we paused.

My friend looked me in the eyes after several minutes of this and said two words, Tommy Knockers. I being studied in the arts knew Tommy knockers where Scandinavian versions of Dwarves. I also knew in my core he was correct.

We exited the mine immediately and went home. A couple days later we went back and began to explore the same mine. Roughly the same area we had been in previously we found had completely caved in. All of the hairs on my body stood up and we got the fuck out double time. That wad the last time I went to monitor pass and was the last time I ever explored a mine with my buddy.

Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
Dead Lake.

I've been to Lake Pleasant many times in my life. It was always fun.

But I went there a few weeks ago it was not so much fun at all.

The lake was about 20 to 30 feet low. But that wasn't what bothered me. It was too quiet.

My brother dragged me out there because he likes to hunt for animal skulls and arrow heads, etc. I went along just to get out of the house. Work was slow and I was bored, and I needed some exercise anyway.

There were a few people out there camping, and one or two boats on the lake, but that was about it. Other than that it was completely quiet.

We went out and explored the dry lake bed, and surrounding area. There were almost no birds around. I could count how many I saw on no more than both hands in the five hours we were there, including ducks.

None of the birds were chirping. No bugs. And there were no animals around. Except for one rabbit that shot out of it's hole behind me as I was walking down a trail. I swung around and grabbed my pistol because it startled me. It was that quiet out that day. It spooked me.

Lastly, we walked about a half mile along the lake. It was being raised (about 3 feet a day I was told), so some of the camp fire rings on the lake bed were getting submerged, and there was trash everywhere.

As I walked along the lake, I saw no fish near shore. At least there should have been minnows, or crawdads, but there was nothing. I think I heard one fish jump out in the middle of the lake though.

There weren't even any little waves lapping on the shore. I felt like I was walking around in a cemetery. I also felt like I was being watched the whole time.

That was the weirdest outdoor experience of my life. I used to love that area when I was a kid.
Yeah I did it, and it can't be undone.

40 years ago while bushwacking along through headwaters of the Credit river fishing for trout. The bush was so thick I was spending half my time swimming through log jams to get downstream (I was nine). In the midst of the thicket in the middle of nowhere I found a clay sculpture of a nude woman. It was clay taken from the bank nearby and still wet. She was about 18 inches high, reclining and smiling in an enigmatic way. The statue was sitting on a log that you could only see if you were fool enough to be swimming down a trout stream.

Whomever the artist was I thanks you from my nine year old self. My first introduction to the female form

Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
I see a bunch of other people here have had the same experience I did.

Back around 1988, about 10 of us teenagers were walking on a path in the woods just outside the neighborhood. It was one of those fall nights where everything was still, a nice chill in the air, and enough light from the moon to see down the path at least 75 feet.

We got to a point in the path where it bent slightly deeper into the woods when we saw it. There was a glowing green orb, probably 5-6 off the ground, slowly bouncing in the air. We ALL saw it. We ALL said something along the lines of, "What the hell?"

The orb starting moving toward us at a fast rate. EVERY single one of us took off running in the opposite direction. I was pretty fast, so I think I trampled a couple of my friends as I made my way back out of the woods. At that point, it was every man for themselves. LOL.

I didn't look back once I started running, so I don't know how long it chased us. We talked about what we saw and everyone had the same story.

Back then, there was a lot of hoopla about devil worshipers in the woods. We'd found numerous "sites" around the path and deeper woods where we thought people were doing it. We broke down triangle shaped campsites and things like that thinking we were doing good. Chances are the sites were just people hanging out and making fires/smoking/etc, but who knows?

Re: Wierd things you have seen in the woods.
Just recently, my wife and I were at an RV park in Cape Charles VA, at the bottom of the Delmarva peninsula. It was the offseason, so there were only a couple other campers scattered throughout the large park.

I found myself awake around 5am as I often do, unable to go back to sleep. So I decided to head to the one bathhouse that was still open and heated to take a shower and shave.

As I exited our coach, I looked around the campground. It was very dark. Very cold. Very few lights right around our site, and it was well before sunrise. Over my right shoulder, some movement caught my eye.

It was jet black and huge--like the size of a small black bear or an extremely large dog. But it moved like a dog. I strained my eyes for a few moments to try to figure out what it was. From what I knew of black bears, it probably would have run off once it spotted me, but this creature came TOWARDS me. Not quickly, mind you, but very slowly and deliberately.

It wasn't far from our coach. Our two little dogs were in there, and they weren't barking, so somehow they didn't smell or sense this thing, whatever it was. And they'll bark at anything. They sense cats, dogs, squirrels from very far away. But they, like my wife, were fast asleep.

I kept walking toward the bathhouse, about 100 yards total walk from our coach. I wondered if this was some kind of hell hound because of the size. It would have been the largest dog I'd ever seen--and so tall! Its shoulders were about three feet off the ground.

But there were no red eyes. In fact, I couldn't make out eyes of any kind. Each time I looked over my shoulder, it was moving towards me calmly but persistently. Part of me wanted to go toward it to see what it really was, but another part of me just told me to walk, not run, straight to the bathhouse. Every time I caught a glimpse of this thing, shivers ran up my spine...it just felt evil. Not like a ferocious, menacing evil that wanted to tear me to pieces, but more a sly, sinister, seductive kind of wickedness. It wanted me to come towards it so it could communicate with me...

As soon as I was inside the building, I felt safe and calm again. When I exited the bathhousea a half hour later, there was no sign of any creature at all. No sounds but the birds, no paw prints, no barking of my dogs. Everything was peaceful.

I looked up stories on the web, and sure enough, there are quite a few accounts of hell hound type entities that have either black eyes or no eyes at all. Not sure if that's what I saw, but I can't imagine what else it would be.
