On the same day,i went back to tree where i rested and could not believe my eyes. There was perfectly new enfield bolt action rifle circa WW1.i packed it and went ahead. What did i see?staircases. I was pretty fearless by that point and just climbed the stairs.i thought they belonged to some old homested house. So i climbed those stairs and saw most infuriatibg sight of all. There was a 30 ft boat fixed on top of tree.Since i could not climb the tree and disentangle boat,i left it there. By that time i was parched and drank some water from stream running.it had funny but very sweet taste.so i decided to track it to source .There was abandoned railway track,so i followed it into a tunnel. There i encountered one of eeriest sight of all. There was old train, with engine and all.I saw vintage 1944 fighter on train and lots of WW2 cars.they were all rusted. Anonymous Coward User ID: 3101414 United States 01/27/2018 06:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This isn't exactly woods, and it's funny but kinda weird. One day when I was young my big brother and I were coming back from the "big city" down a main highway that cuts through the state. My brother couldn't seem to drop this car behind him. This car stayed behind us, in front of us or beside us for miles. Finally my brother got kinda creeped out and thought we were being harassed or followed or something. He was very protective of me and decided to take the next exit off the highway and lose the guy. Quoting: Keats We get off the highway and drive a couple of miles - and the guy is STILL BEHIND US! Now my brother is really kinda freaking out. So he he turns down this heavily wooded half paved road, surely we'll lose the guy now. Nope - he turns down the same road! We keep going down the road a couple of miles and to our amazement there is actually a house here and there on it. My brother is telling me to stay calm (I was, HE was scared) and finally we see we are coming to the end - it was a dead end road! The guy is STILL behind us. We see at the end in the woods a driveway to a house. My brother tells me he's going to pull in and act like we live there. He drives down the long driveway up to this house. We just sit there. The guy that had been tailing us is just sitting on the road at the end of the driveway. We sat there for what seemed like an eternity but was probably just a few minutes. Then my brother says "Hold on!" He throws the car in reverse, backs out really fast all the way down the dirt driveway, swings the car around and drives quickly past the guy who was staring at us. My brother got up to the road we had taken to get there, and we could see the guy and his house through a break in the woods. The guy pulled into the driveway, got out carrying two bags of groceries - looked all around scared as hell and hurried into his house and closed the door! We had actually driven miles out of our way and actually pulled into HIS driveway! Turns out we'd scared the shit outta him - and my brother needed just a bit of help with his paranoia! I returned all these years later just to read this story again. It still makes me laugh my ass off! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 73835224 United Kingdom 01/27/2018 10:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | always glad to see this thread still going, best thread on GLP by far - and now i can sort of contribute. this happened tonight and is basicallly "in the woods" (new forest, hants): it was either a bit before or after midnight (GMT), wasn't paying attention to the exact time but was driving back home from ringwood along the A338 to salisbury, just before the crossroads at ellingham where i take a right into the new forest down ellingham drove. no other cars around, no cyclists (for once lol), just me. before i reached the crossroads a bright little orb of light went in a steady straight line from the trees on the left to the trees on the right where it stopped/alighted amongst some branches just before i passed. i know it wasn't a reflection on my windscreen or glasses because, as i said, no-one else was around and - more importantly - it gently lit up the branches around where it stopped/landed. not a reflection travelling along a phone wire or whatever either, there aren't any that cross over the road there (lorries would snap 'em). it wasn't bright enough to light up the road or anything, it was only about the size of a small bird but it flew in a perfectly straight and slow line and was about 10ft or so above the ground. sort of like watching a little star, yet it was completely localised. the fact it gently lit up the tree branches it landed in/on was what convinced me it wasn't a random reflection from my headlights or anything. honestly can't think what it could've been but i'm glad i saw it. really cool. my description probably makes it sound boring but it certainly wasn't. wish i'd stopped to have a proper look but it's weird how you just keep going when you're in "driving mode" and want to get home. wasn't tired or anything. like i said, it was like watching a little star and it was clearly generating its own light. i'm not one for flights of fancy and can usually rationalise stuff to myself but i really don't understand what i saw and this experience will certainly stick with me. anyway there's my boring story. i saw a fairy or something! durrr |

They are about 3 -5 feet tall, have flat tops and are obviously man made. I recall counting about thirty of them one time, This is old Indian country and assume they were created by them, but have never found anything that could justify their purpose. I was tempted to dismantle one out of curiosity once , but decided to leave it intact in respect to those that put them there. Don't want any ancient Indian curse following me around anyway. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1280804 I have them too on my property in Susquehanna county. I have stone walls all over the place too right along property lines. Maybe it was something cool they liked to do to pass the time back in the day? Pretty sure they didn't have xbox or the internets. There's indian walls in southern illinois such as this. The ones I have seen end at a cliff usually, and were used as a "funneling system".They would use the walls to funnel the buffalo off the cliffs in order to break their legs thus killing them. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 51259739 United States 02/02/2018 11:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | One day I was hiking up a "mini mountain" near Oregon coast with my wife and young kids. I call them mini mountains because the were large, fairly steep peaked tree covered hills and the fog would often hide the tops of them. If you've been there you know what I am talking about. Anyways, we had walked no more than 10 minutes from our secluded campground when I decided to freak out my kids by doing one of those Bigfoot screams we saw guys doing on bigfoot shows. I did not think I would get a response just messing with the kids because it was a little creepy up there. Lo and behold, not 10 seconds later I heard but actually more felt, a huge deep thud like something VERY large hit the ground. My jaw dropped and I looked over to my kids and it was obvious my 10 year old son heard/felt the same thing as he looked horrified! I asked him, did you hear that? He said yes. Neither my girls nor wife noticed anything but my sons and my reaction were enough to send them running screaming back down the hill. I actually got kinda shook up because I in no way was expecting that to happen. Of course over the next few years we speculated on what it possibly could be but never told anyone that, "We heard Bigfoot". What really sent shivers down my spine and made me admit that it could very well have been Bigfoot was while watching the Les Stroud specials when he hunted Bigfoot. He talked about how he had many instances of very large thuds that he felt/heard when out in the wilderness that he couldn't explain. They were one of the main mysterious happenings that lead him to research Bigfoot. |

I spend an awful lot of time hiking in forests here in the UK but obviously and unfortunately, our forests are not large enough to really get lost or encounter some reclusive form of weirdness. However, a couple of times, when taking rest, i have heard electronic beeps coming from above my head in what is otherwise a very quiet area with nobody around, and seeing as though i haven't owned a mobile phone in 6 years i really was unsure what the beeps were. We also have mysterious 'black cat' sightings across the country, i haven't seen it, but i have family members who have seen exactly this so called black cat but it is probably anything but, a large black cat. Hmm |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 51259739 United States 02/04/2018 09:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm actually surprised people believe me. I've always hesitated because I find it hard to even believe myself. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37579514 Thanks. It actually is comforting in a way. If you think about it, most of us believe in God, good, evil, and the like. I shouldn't have been so surprised to see it manifest itself but you really don't think it will ever happen to you. It's interesting about that area; in the middle of good ole boy white country, Baldwin is a black town. Joe Louis evidently tried to start a community there. Unfortunately it is a very violent place, statistically speaking...not your typical rural midwest town. I've wondered since then if something evil is at work there or was unleashed somehow. It actually started in Idlewild a town a few miles east of Baldwin. It started as a black resort town in the 20's. It almost became a ghost town in the 60's but blacks started going back in the late 80's and they eventually pretty much took over Baldwin too. When my kids school goes to play them in sports, the visiting players get a police escort all over campus for their protection. There's always a couple brawls a year during a sporting event there. Really sad, they dont like stereotypes but they certainly do live up to them much too often. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75230421 United States 02/22/2018 10:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In 7th grade I lived in Mobile Alabama - this town had a very creepy Deliverance kinda vibe. Quoting: BD 1391571 There was a concrete ditch near our house that we used to skateboard in, it was about 7-8 feet below ground level. The very first day we went there we discovered a dismembered animal lying in pieces in the ditch, with no skin. Many weeks or months after moving to Mobile, a friend named Sam and I decided to skate along the ditch (away from the neighborhood and into the woods) to see where it would lead us. We followed it for a mile or so into the woods. It eventually ended at a vertical wall of earth and concrete, with two holes continuing forward. The holes were about 5-6 feet in diameter and each had horizontal metal bars stretching across their length right in the middle. We stood there trying to decide whether to continue, when suddenly we heard a voice coming from the right tunnel. It said for us to "come inside". My friend and I were terrified and totally frozen stiff. Then other voices joined in, it seemed they knew we were terrified and they were laughing, adult's voices and also children's voices. Then an instrument started playing, it sounded like an oboe or a reed instrument. Here's where it gets weird. We were standing there, not moving or saying a word, and the next thing we saw were several pairs of GLOWING EYES in the tunnel. They were yellowish white, and bobbing up and down as though walking. There is a minor gap in my memory at this point, but basically what emerged from the tunnels was a suburban family of 5, all on bicycles. The minor gap is that I don't actually remember them getting their bicycles over the metal bars that blocked the tunnel, and it seems like I would've remembered this because it would've been a difficult thing to do. They were all blond-haired and blue eyed, they looked like a suburb family right out of a catalog. There was a man and woman in their mid-30s with 3 children, the oldest being about 12 and the youngest being about 5 or 6. I remember looking at the youngest child and seeing circles under her eyes, I thought to myself "That girl looks like she's on drugs". The man held out a small object which I took to be the instrument he was playing. He said, "The next time you hear this, you'll know it is us." Then they got on their bicycles and rode away. I know that I would've eventually written off this story as my imagination, but the only reason I know for sure that it happened exactly as I'm telling, with the glowing eyes and everything, is because there was someone else with me and we confirmed everything with each other afterwards. An aryan suburb family of 5 with glowing eyes in a pitch black sewer tunnel in the middle of the woods... what had we stumbled across and what were they doing there? I've always wondered. lol WTF? |

I mentioned that because all of a sudden, it got eerily quiet and I had a beam of light directly on me. I guess the trees being smaller and closer to the ground helped the light break through. A cloud cover had come over and everywhere that I could see above me was a huge dark cloud, save for that one break where the light came directly down on me for about a 30 foot radius around me. I remember thinking of that first x-files episode where the bean of light comes down in the woods directly over the people ! It lasted for about 3 minutes, but it was very ethereal and not so much "alien" as spiritual. Not a great story, but for me it was. Good thread OP, glad that it has survived |
