Re: My Turn - Two and a Half Days Without a CIGARETTE
Damn 7752250. You're the little devil on my shoulder who's been bothering me all day. Yet somehow, it's helping me realize how lame are all my best excuses for running to the store right now. Lame isn't the best word, but they really are just excuses. Fact is, I am ready.

I found a "risk of getting lung cancer calculator" (there's officially a calculator for everything) on Sloan-Kettering's website, and I had pretend I'm 50 so I could use it, but if I maintained my recent level of smoking (about half a pack a day) until I hit 50, their calculator put me at <1% chance of getting lung cancer. I thought, for real? I'm going through this for less than one percent chance??? But then there's good 'ol strokes and heart attacks and the fact that I spend as much on breath mints as I do on smokes... And I look at the faces of female family members who have smoked their whole lives, and I surely don't want THOSE wrinkles when I'm their age. And what killed my mother was surgical complications from a surgery with a 95% success rate. So stats don't mean anything when you're on the losing end. Still... <1% didn't really impress me. Driving is probably riskier than that.

WhyQuit.com got me through last night and a period of this morning. And the various YouTube vids of people dying of lung cancer. Rewatched that one.

Love all the advice. GLP rocks. If I stay this miserable for longer than a week, I think I'll have to consider e-cigs or the other alternatives lest I end up duct-taping my 4-year old and ending up as one of the pinned threads on GLP when the photo shows up on Facebook.

Re: My Turn - Two and a Half Days Without a CIGARETTE
I was a smoker in my teens and early 20s, and I quit for about 7 years. Then, after losing my mom unexpectedly, I started again. I had my last cigarette at 10:30a on Dec. 24. No nicotine replacement... just cold turkey. This sucks so much more than I remember it. I keep flip-flopping between wanting to do this for my kids and thinking that I really don't want to quit. But withdrawal is so hard, and I don't want to go through it again, so I hope I can stick with this. Anyway, I'm just putting it down in writing somewhere because I need to channel my restlessness.

You can do it!!

Your a fucking badass and you can do it!!

I recently went to vapor about 4 months ago and havent touched a cigarette since.

I once went 9 months cold turkey during my wifes pregnancy and it can be tough but it is worth it.

Be strong, be proud and believe in yourself.

Way to go!!

One tip, do not reward yourself with a cig after 1 week or 1 month, do not trick yourself that way. Its an easy mistake to make, do not turn around, do not go back, fuck yeah!!

Re: My Turn - Two and a Half Days Without a CIGARETTE
Very beautiful, loving yourself in this way:) I am proud of you. May you find your inner strength and embrace it. I have found this to be a very personal journey. Quitting because YOU want to rather than any other reasons will help you succeed long term.

I jumped on the band wagon on Nov 15th. 2011 and have been smoke free and learning to love myself more everyday:) The days that prove to be a challenge are the days i learn more about myself and try to introduce new and healthy coping skills to replace/change an unwanted behavior/addiction.

I wish you the best, stay busy, might help to make short term goals, reward yourself. I can share with you what helps me alot, it may or may not help you. Whenever the urge is strong to smoke I imagine my higher self reaching out for my hand, me becoming her and helping her (me) to work through the urge and make a wiser choice:) In essence I am smoke free helping the inner child to become smoke free:) or in other words learning to love me:)

May you learn to LOVE the butterfly that you are becoming:) Free! Best wishes:)

18 days for me. Went to the ecig and take 5-10 drags per day.

Been smoking for 24 years and recently waking up with black lung, plus dad(adopted) just got diagnosed with some bad smoking-related shit.

I'm done. Last month I was loving it, now for the first time ever aside from one craving(not acted upon), no desire at all.

That, along with the actual motion of smoking is the killer to get over.

If you quit for "your kids" you wont stay quit.

You need to quit because YOU want to, not because you are worried about your kids.

That said, good job.

Only 5 to 10 drags a day?!?!?! Whoa.....

My first month I vaped 6x an hour!
Heavy addict though....

The trick is, look at your MG people...

If you're smoking a pack of reds a day, then you would = one ml of 18mg a day. (depending on gear)

I was smoking 1.5PAD for years on end, I used 24mg, after 3 months I dropped to 18mg, no problem. About to jump to 12mg at 6 months & so on. Whats the rush right?

Re: My Turn - Two and a Half Days Without a CIGARETTE
Have you thought about chewing tobacco? Seriously. I much prefer the American brands, but the Swedish nailed it. They called it "Harm Reduction", offering SNUS in lieu of smoking cigarettes. In addition to cutting the smoking rate down dramatically, the Swedish method of pasturizing SNUS has shown little to any correlation to cancer in the SNUS users.

Nicotine is not bad, the delivery system is. (Granted, it will elevate your BP a tad)

I use 18mg, but am thinking to jumping to 24mg. Was a pack a day forever, for last two years, about 4-6 a day.

I don't smoke any more weed than I was(which is quite a bit). I think I'm just tired of it and how it makes me feel.

Again, for me, the motion of bringing it up to drag was hard to put behind me till this time around---I say that now, but wait a while, and I might be singing a different tune.

Re: My Turn - Two and a Half Days Without a CIGARETTE
2nd carto?! As in you're not refill your carto & you just cracked a new one at day 6? WOW

(Opinion only here)
If you've gone a week, no analogs & 18mg vape, dont go up in mg, just vape a lil more.

Consider ordering juice if you haven't yet, you can get 7 to 10 refills a cartomizer, much cheaper. I assume you aren't using a 3 piece atty/cart set-up as not refilling you cart would be costly!

Either way, it's WAY less than analogs, I went from 300+ to 27bucks in juice & gear wear a month....

So in the end AC, Vape on!
