Actually, if you think about it, people really don't have much of a choice. The only one I can think of now would be Ron Paul. Other then that, I admire those that have passed away already. Gandhi, Padre Pio, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa, John Kennedy, or anybody that tried to lift mankind's spirit. It's a sad commentary on the people who voted in this poll but hey, we're living in a time when there aren't many public hero's out there. :(

Each leads their category with 17% of votes in top 10 lists that favor the most familiar names in global politics, religion, entertainment and culture.

Linda Dinco, 62, of Latrobe, Pa., says she named Obama and Secretary of State Clinton for their "intelligence and their toughness".

Obama supplanted George W. Bush at No. 1 in 2008 but Bush continues in the No. 2 spot, according to the poll of 1,019 U.S. adults conducted Dec. 15-18.

This list is very telling, if you think about it.

It really shows how shallow thoughtless most people are.

Looking at this objectively, why exactly are these people admired? For what traits/accomplishments? Queen Elizabeth is a perfect example. She came into her position by absolutely no doing of her own. She married the right guy at the right time; anybody could have done that. With regard to real accomplishments and having a positive effect on the world, Lady Diana did more than the old bat with the ugly hats.

Obama can only be admired for his swindling of the US. He actually pulled off one of the biggest scams in world history. Gotta admit, that's pretty impressive. Oprah? She's wealthy, but useless. Hillary? The shrill, nasty one?

I believe the people who should be the most admired are the unsung heroes. They youngsters dying in unnecessary wars. Those who are charitable. The unselfish. Most of the people on this list are greedy, power-hungry slime.
