I was told today that American women are genetically
stronger than Indian (dot not feather) women. I was taken aback by this statement coming from a female coworker. Her husband chimed in that it is very true. I said that it was a silly statement and walked away. Later she approached me and continued the conversation stating that she honestly believed that American women are closer to their male counterparts in strength and intelligence due to generations of independent women who work and do basic labor alongside men. I am curious if we are viewed this way generally or if it is an isolated or regional viewpoint? Commentary greatly appreciated and helpful insight applauded. :flag waver:

what is 'dot not feather'? I find it hard to believe. Are you referring to Native Americans or the Indians in India?

I have no idea.

I really don't think that it matters though, any person can be strong and any person can change the world.

Any person can believe what they hear, and follow society and trendy stuff too.

Dot refers to the bindi an Indian from India wears on her forehead.
Feather refers to something typically associated with an American Indian.

I agree. I just thought it was a very bizarre thing to say. I firmly believe that an individual is capable of anything they set their mind to, male or female.

That isn't even a regional view...

The amount of American genetic diversity is far behind that of many countries due to the Segregation Period and it's effects on American Culture.

Despite an incredible rate of immigration to America, the majority of immigrants moved into communities of people from their own native countries.

Hence "Lil' Italy" and "Chinatown".

The "Melting Pot" hasn't affected genetic diversity in America until recently, and that is generally accepted as the past 20-30 years.

Otherwise the term "Melting Pot" was used to describe American Culture being a blend of it's collection of immigrant cultures. It was not used to describe a genetic blending, as many wrongly assume.

Countries like Brazil are generations ahead of America in terms of Genetic Diversity.

Now to address India directly, much like China it is comprised of many diverse groups of people, but the average Western Education usually gives only a brief lesson on South Asia and a bulk of the time is spent on Euro-Centric history instead.

From the far north to the southern tip of India the people are incredibly different in appearance and culture.

What makes a woman or a man strong is trodding the rocky road of life and the suffering that goes with it. Also the reason Indian women ( both Indians) are stronger is because they know the creator and trust in Him.

I actually took it as a compliment. Ha Ha Ha. Who would want to be frail and helpless? I am definitely very feminine, but I enjoy hiking and hunting. I don't think I would ever be in a situation where I required someone to make my life choices for me. I do like the chivalry of a gentleman opening my door, but it isn't a necessity. KWIM?

American Women are CULTURALLY STRONGER...

It has nothing to due with genetics.

Globally, few women enjoy the freedoms of the American Woman.

my great grandma (pure Indian) feather not dot, walked the trail of tears to oaklahoma, then , when she saw it was just a holding pen, she walked BACK to TENESEE. there she built a tiny log cabin and met a cool german/french guy who helped her with the roof and married her. she raised 11 boys there, worked in the fields, broke horses, and was a seemstress. she lived till 103. i met her when i was little girl,
i thought she was my grandfather's friend because she still looked and acted so young. all the white women in my family
were basically trophy wifes that died in their60's& 70s of diseases that stem from laziness. so not dot, not immigrant,
feather wins this competition for sure!

Yep, you are right.

And, how sad is that, in this day and age...

It's weird to live on a planet where some people enjoy the highest level of our technology and luxury, while many people are still living in rain forests, and far too many people are living in complete squalor and poverty.

We taut ourselves as so modern and advanced, but I liken our development to hairless monkeys with electronics.

War, famine, and social castes are all still prevalent in today's modern error, all due to the tyranny of a few.

We should be so much further along by now, but despite the appearance of a Golden Age in technology, it is really a dark age as only a small portion of the world are enlightened.

Meaning only a small percentage of the world enjoy things that were invented 50-100 years ago like electricity, televisions, phone, and automobiles.

Really, really sad.

You obviously haven't seen my family tree.

On a side note, lots of people in America tend to pretend to be the ethnicity of the area that they move into. When my grandparents moved to the town that I live in now, they suddenly became full blooded German. Because this helped them fit in and become accepted.

I have the family tree going back hundreds of years, so I know that there is lots of Dutch, Italian, and Scottish on that side of the tree, with only a tiny amount of German. They just chose to forget that. (They also didn't mention Indian (feather) step parent and step sibling.

My Mother's family tree is a whole different ball of wax.

My family likes to move around and make love and war.

LOL, mine is that way too.
Mostly European blooded ancestors with French, Welch, Scottish and Isle of Man mixed in, probably with a touch of German and a dash of American Indian.

My family finally gave up trying to tell people about our immigrant heritage mix and we just now call it, being a "Heinz57" after the famous steak sauce that has 57 varieties.
