(OP) User ID: 1079209 United States 01/13/2012 05:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I agree, way to tarnish the image of a good revolutionary by associating him with some scummy car company. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1309522 Che was certainly not a "good revolutionary", he was a cold blooded murderer. He sent hundreds of people to the firing squad, and if he felt like it, he would kill the freedom fighters himself. He was known to walk in during the shootings and use his pistol to shoot men in the head at close range. He killed for fun. Of course the macho bullshit went out the window when he was captured. He cryed, begged and tried to bribe his captors before he was executed. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8773471 >>> [link to en.wikipedia.org] "Mass murderer" didn't make it into the credentials? I wouldn't use Wikipedia for anything where facts matter. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5196704 Priceless!! That's one I had not thought of. It might work, at that. Anyone who so blatantly endorses Communism (as if it were a joke) in light of the MILLIONS worldwide who have been exterminated in communist regimes must be OUT OF THEIR EVER-LOVIN' MINDS!! The CEO's resignation should be demanded immediately. |

I don't think even 10% of the people in America know who Che was. Even on GLP, where we are much better educated about revolutions, many people use Che fist in there post. That is paying homage to the mass murderer. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1309522 It's scary that so many kids in the world today are wearing Che shirts and other branded cloths. They have no idea who this killer really is. Yeah I am the kid you are talking about. True, I have no idea what the cuban revolution was really like, or whether or not I would approve of the things done in it's name by Che or Fidel or any other. When I wear this T-shirt, or the one with Fidel on it, or the one with the hammer/sickle, I am doing it in near total and unapologetic ignorance of the actual historical facts. I will keep doing it too. After all, I've been purposefully miseducated my whole life, advertised to by corporations who wanted to install romantic ideas in my head to sell me their products. Che is no more a real person to me than Jesus, Santa Claus, or Don Draper. What I DO interact with in my daily life are cultural memes, and the cultural meme surrounding che is that he was a revolutionary who freed the cuban people from the american empire. As somebody who feels like I need to be rescued from an american(?)(international?) empire, the image of Che is a powerful symbol to me, and until that context changes I will continue to want what that symbol represents, freedom. Any companies that want to sell me products would be well advised to launch a campaign against SOPA and start trying to take down the fascist state, install a little socialism in it's place. Plastering Che on their promotional materials is not enough to impress me, but they are just responding to the market. If what you say is true, and it became the new accepted narrative on Che, then the meaning of the image would change and it would no longer appeal to me. Until then... vive la revolution ;) |

And when he was caught, he begged like a little girl and offered all his money if they would release him. He may have had a better chance at a deal if he had not murdered the friends and family of the soldiers that captured him. A real doctor would not torture and kill for fun. Che is one of the worst mass murderers that ever lived. And now he rots in hell. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage. I see what you are taking about every day. Unfortunately, most young people, like you just follow the leader.
