"A DESTRUCTIVE WIDESPREAD TSUNAMI THREAT DOES NOT EXIST BASED ON
HISTORICAL EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI DATA.

HOWEVER - THERE IS THE SMALL POSSIBILITY OF A LOCAL OR REGIONAL
TSUNAMI THAT COULD AFFECT COASTS LOCATED USUALLY NO MORE THAN A
FEW HUNDRED KILOMETERS FROM THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER. AUTHORITIES
IN THE REGION NEAR THE EPICENTER SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THIS
POSSIBILITY."

Yea I really don't get this: Between 3 different EQ maps, they ALL have different depths, and 2 of them have a different Magnitude. USGS being the biggest pussy of 'em all recording this at a 6.5 while others are saying 6.7. USGS also says 10kms in depth while others say 2kms. Huh!

One way to know will be to watch the way the quake shows up on other seismographs. This will determine more about the strength and depth...but takes a while for the data to be processed and unless it's significant they probably won't adjust the read outs...

Funny thing is that Chile has around 7 bases in the general area (within 400 Km of the epicenter) and the president of Chile was visiting there announcing the new plans for Chilean presence there. LOL.
All great truths begin as Blasphemies.

Re: 6.7 Earthquake Strikes 2 KM Deep - South Shetland Island, Followed By 6.2
The 6.2 follow up is listed at 14.8km deep on USGS...but on EMSC it's listed at 40km deep. SOOOOO much difference on these quakes.
