Here's the data going back to 1940. ftp://ftp.bls.gov/pub/special.requests/lf/aat1.txt % rose as the country transitioned from single breadwinner to everyone working (as costs & taxes increased) Now look at the graph since Obummer took office: [link to 3.bp.blogspot.com] |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9117806 There are less people because less people can qualify now. Eventually the "new" unemployment claims will be ZERO because there will be nobody left that will qualify. If the stats come from the govt assume they are 100% lies. ^^^^This^^^^ People are falling off the rolls -- expired, maxed benefits. Do you see a large number of peoplee where you live suddenly getting jobs? Any help wanted signs visible in widows or paper ads? Don't see any of that here. You are aware you need to create 186,000 jobs per week to break even. That is from the last census. That is the number of jobs needed per WEEK just to keep up with population growth. There has not been one week in the last 3 years where we created 100k jobs much less 186k(less 3 weeks of census worker hiring). In short since 2008 we have lost almost 11 million jobs in the United States. Over 14% of the ENTIRE population is now on food assistance(SNAP). Males aged 18-27 have a 37% unemployment rate. We are on the titanic. We hit the iceberg in 2008.The bail outs have kept us floating in the short term. But make no mistake we are now headed into a hurricane and no amount of bailing is going to keep us afloat. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1358673 United States 01/20/2012 07:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The number of people seeking unemployment benefits plummeted last week to 352,000, the fewest since April 2008. The decline added to evidence that the job market is strengthening. Quoting: IS-BE Applications fell 50,000, the biggest drop in the seasonally adjusted figure in more than six years, the Labor Department said Thursday. The four-week average, which smooths out fluctuations, dropped to 379,000. That's the second-lowest such figure in more than three years. For all of 2011, the economy added 1.6 million jobs. That was up sharply from 940,000 in 2010. Economists say they expect roughly 1.9 million more jobs to be added this year, according to a survey by The Associated Press. Snip - Less than 50%.
