Anonymous Coward 01/20/2012 04:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Good info this worries me I just got my daughter a kitten lol Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6021166 But she wanted one for years (Wonder why?). Mmmhmm. Now don't get me wrong, I ain't saying pull a Nancy Lieder on your cats... But be WELL aware what is REALLY going on here. The physical/mental effects of toxoplasmosis are GENERALLY not a big deal, in my opinion... I mean a little lymph node swelling here and there, some tiredness, muscle aches, headaches... once every few/several years. Not a big deal eh? I still REALLY want a cat... BUT ON PRINCIPLE ALONE... I'm not sure I can go through with it now. |

Anonymous Coward 01/20/2012 04:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | But because T. gondii can reproduce only in felines, it wants its host to be eaten by cats, not by just any carnivore. And because cats hunt live prey and do not eat carrion, T. gondii must not immediately kill its temporary host. Quoting: [link to www.scientificamerican.com] I've always joked that I didn't want to die in some boring, ordinary way, and that I wanted to be killed by a bunch of circus lions in an unfortunate trapeze accident... THIS IS SOME FUCKED UP SHIT PEOPLE. WE ARE LITERALLY BEING MIND CONTROLLED BY THIS PARASITE. |

Controlling their brains like the lady who had the worm removed from her brain. I think this is way more serious shit than they even realize how many other types are there? Unlimited perhaps? [link to www.webmd.com] You can become infected by eating food such as undercooked or raw meat from an infected animal or by handling an infected cat or its stool (feces). Once you have been infected, you will have antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii for the rest of your life, so you cannot be infected again. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6021166 Because of the seriousness that if a pregnant woman has it and transfers it to the fetus. It can result in blindness and brain damage. So its very accurate for that reason. Yeah I know... I'm not gonna go and give my blood away to the government just so they can tell me I have something I already know I have. Look, I had a cat since the age of 5 (he lived for 16 years), I cleaned his litter box sometimes, and I used to try to put his entire face in my mouth (don't judge me okay). Not to mention getting it from food. Trust me, I have toxoplasmosis. That's not even my concern... Rather than getting a blood test to prove it, rather than taking some retarded rave party drug to 'cure' it, I am more interested in MAKING THIS COMMON KNOWLEDGE SO WE CAN GET TO THE BOTTOM OF WHAT CATS ARE REALLY ALL ABOUT, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!! |

I think this is way more serious shit than they even realize how many other types are there? Unlimited perhaps? True, very true... We are probably just made up of parasites, and are really parasites ourselves. But what interests me is the exclusivity to cats with this particular parasite. I mean let's face it, I think most of us have always known there was something a little 'different' about cats. Are they aliens?? A race from another world?? Are they vessels for certain soulseeds to embody?? I ask this because I have known a few cats that seemed to be highly psychic, and even seemed representative of the same kind of spirit personality... I mean I am completely serious here folks. There are answers in all this. |

Anonymous Coward 01/20/2012 04:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And what came first? The cat, or the parasite? Does the cat exist for the parasite to travel? Or vice versa??? THINK ABOUT IT! The parasite comes from a cat, and once you're infected, it grows in your brain, and you are infected FOR LIFE. There are psychic elements here. A permanent connection made between the cat and the host (human). FOR WHAT PURPOSE? |

When a healthy individual becomes infected with the parasite, his or her immune system neutralizes the threat and the parasite falls dormant. The inactive organism remains present in the body for life, creating increased immunity in the event of future exposure. Anonymous Coward User ID: 300884 Sweden 01/20/2012 05:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are species of lice that only live on the human body. There's even two of them, because the lice that wants to live on your head are a different species from the ones that want to live between your legs. This just tells us NATURE ABHORS VACUUM, as they used to say. Every viable niche is soon occupied by some lifeform. Even the really stupid niches. The niche of "exploiting the fact humans find cats cute, and will easily get one if nudged just a little bit" couldn't stay unoccupied for long; some parasitic critter just had to claim it as its own. My personal favorite example of nature filling silly niches is the tiny eco-system that exists in old books. The "book lice" eat the black letters, and other critters who also live between the pages survive by hunting the book lice. |

And they are ancient Egyptian like people to which somewhat in my mind links the cat thing. Tell me the writer of that didn't know something? Then I think of how they have found parasites 2 miles inside the Earth and inside freezing ice that can survive living on a meteor living and flourishing. There could be literally thousands of people walking around you everyday. With different types of these organisms inside their brains. Worse than Toxo Gondii, unknown types. That make them totally different to the usual human race. I believe if a meteor crashed to earth tomorrow with some kind of organism on it that could survive. The whole of this planet could be massively changed by it in 100 years or so. |
