Would the BIBLE Survive 2012 and beyond
When it comes to the bible(s)[plural], It is not short of follower's and believers. This we can all agree on.

Now bare with me on this- [cringing] Lets take some versus that I will choose myself. Here they are:

John 1:14 - "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth."

John 8:24 - "I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins."

John 10:30-33 - "I and the Father are one."

Couple more:

Matt. 14:33 - "And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, "You are certainly God’s Son!"

Joel 2:32 - "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call."

Now the bible is written by primitive men. Rather or not by the grace of sky bully..oops sorry guys..i mean God is up for debate. But not here, Not this time. What i would like to point out is this-

Lets take "John Sand Cheeks", "Matt Desert Dweller", and "Joel Doesn't Bath" [first, middle, and last names] And we will say John, Matt, and Joel are in their 30's and seemingly "normal" for the country they live in [country isn't important right now] and the year is 2012.

If they started saying the things that the orignal john, matt and joel did back in PRIMITIVE days.. WOULD YOU OR WOULDN'T YOU BELIEVE THEM?
Before YOU answer please consider the times we live in today. And please account for the reports of "rare" occurences that get reported and simply LAUGHED AT.
~UFO sighting
~UFO abduction reports and stories
~ghosts, spirits, and demon sightings and hauntings
~Bigfoot sightings
~Sumarian tablet findings
~many many others that I don't have time to list.
-----you get MY point------

Would the bible stand up against the PEOPLE of 2012 and beyond? Would you believe these men with the same bible stories of today? My opinion is NO.

kiss me Thanks in advance !

The truth is coming out too fast now for it to really stand a chance.

You have priests coming out saying it's a lie

You have a Vatican translator coming out saying the bible is a lie

The Shape of the Vatican symbolises them knowing Catholicism comes to an end this year.

They believe that this current Pope will be the last.

They KNOW it is coming to an end but at least they have a few hundred billion in Gold etc to keep them in retirement. I'm sure glad there is no suffering in the World where that money could go!

Re: Would the BIBLE Survive 2012 and beyond
The only credibility mainstream religion has is its timeline. People believe it more because they can see that people have been following it for quite some time.
Likewise we look to our elders for knowledge and wisdom. I find it worrying that people believe a religion because they’re elders do. Anyone over 50 would remember a time where people were socially forced into believing religion; so isn’t that a big lot of bias?

More than likely you would not listen to those people if you lived in their time and the only credibility they had was their own word rather than a social influence.
It would be no different to following a small religion such as westboro today, not many people will fall for it because there is no social push to do so.

I doubt the bible will be gone as early as this year but we can already see that its strength is diminishing. It will be something that dwindles over a few decades in my opinion.
Unless there is a scientific breakthrough that comes, this is very possible.
But it is obvious to see that religion does not have much place in modern society.
Spirituality is different but I don’t see many people believing in something without any evidence for too much longer.
On the other hand, if living conditions continue to drop and education becomes unattainable we may see numbers grow. Because it is well documented that ignorance and bad emotions breed religion; but it also works in reverse.

Anyway, hope that helps somewhat.
Time will tell.

Also,
I caught your soul.
Do you want it back or can I sell it on eBay?
Only when the last tree has died,
The last river been poisoned,
And the last fish has been caught.
Will we realise..

Re: Would the BIBLE Survive 2012 and beyond
Hello OP,

I suppose the question comes down to discernment and truth.

Both of which are often viewed as objective by the first person and subjective by the second and third and so-on.

So we each have "discernment" and "truth".

We will be able to find those who believe John Sand Cheeks, Matt Desert Dweller, and Joel Doesn't Bath and we will be able to find those who disagree with John, Matt, and Joel.

Do you suppose the words of these fella's; John, Matt, and Joel - will be around in 4012? What would cause them to survive, and perhaps even thrive, for generations?

If they are words of wisdom and power and profundity, I suspect they will have some memberance... Even 2000 years later.

But I am the first person here and there will be those who will likely share a difference "discernment" and "truth". Those who will say (from the beginning) John, Matt and Joel are loons and those which subscribe to their words and thinking are also loons...

lol!!!

peace,

Very nice reply! I agree it is dimishing~ but things can change I do feel people are starting to question more, experiment with other beliefs and thought systems..etc. One thing i won't miss if it does diminish is the fear and spread of fear !

I'm afraid if you caught my soul then you are the rightful owner at this point..it seems to have a mind of its own and doesn't like to stay in one place~ sell it on ebay so my soul can explore the ends and out of the world around ithf

Why would you think the Bible was written by primitive men? Joel was most likely a priest, which would entail that he be literate. John was a fisherman, but he would have been literate in Hebrew, the language of the Bible, Aramaic, the common language of the people, and because it was the lingua franca of the eastern Mediterranean, Greek. Matthew, as a Roman official, would have been literate in all of the above, plus Latin. Judah was not a backwater, it was crossed by the important east-west trade routes and was a magnet for pilgrims from all over the Roman and Parthian empires. Jerusalem was considered one of the premier cities of the Empire and the Temple was a marvel of engineering. I would say that most people living today are far more primitive than those living at the height of the Roman Empire.
By the way, I would believe them because they make far more sense than the bilge that passes for philosophy today.

Those who will say (from the beginning) John, Matt and Joel are loons and those which subscribe to their words and thinking are also loons...

lol!!!

peace,

 Quoting: Monsanto

Very nice reply! I agree it is dimishing~ but things can change I do feel people are starting to question more, experiment with other beliefs and thought systems..etc. One thing i won't miss if it does diminish is the fear and spread of fear !

I'm afraid if you caught my soul then you are the rightful owner at this point..it seems to have a mind of its own and doesn't like to stay in one place~ sell it on ebay so my soul can explore the ends and out of the world around ithf
 Quoting: Aiyanna

Well I want religion to diminish, as do many others. But no one seems to put any effort in (apart from you obviously). The least I can do is try and educate people.
People are questioning a lot more. Which makes me wonder what will happen when the economy collapses? I hope it doesn’t go in reverse and back to a complete world of religious hate and ignorance.
The fear is easily the worst part because fear breads so much other horrible stuff.

Excellent. You may want to get a leash for your soul in the future.
But I will keep it for a little while and then give it back to you.

Thanks for your reply,

Hehe.... Perhaps so!

Now the question(s) I have to ask myself is;

How does one have assurance that they are of sound "discernment"?

How does one have comfort that they know "truth"

And my answer is, they have assurance and comfort when they have a deep inner peace.

And when one has a deep inner peace, they know everything will work out as it is intended. For not only themselves, but for others as well.

So to conclude; I wish you and others a deep, inner peace and a comfort and assurance that brings such a peace.
