Re: Tips For Growing Out Hair
Yes, washing it only every so often helps keep it healthy, but it is also the way you wash it...

Do not "scrub" your hair... wash at the roots, on the scalp...lets the suds do the rest on the actual hair...

This has worked for me, as I am on the 6th grow out for my next cut to "Locks of Love" for kids with cancer.

+1 for compassion of others, how precious. I'm very gentle with my hair, but will do on taking the advice of not scrubbing, because I go batshit crazy when washing it, other than that I'm very gentle. Thank you
John works 40 hours a week at a factory job. His rate of pay is $12.00 per hour. This week he worked an additional 3.5 hours of overtime for which he is paid $18.00 per hour. If he stops at the bar on the way home and drinks up 40% of his paycheck, how long until his wife piles all his shit up on the sidewalk?

Re: Tips For Growing Out Hair
Hello, I'm a hairdresser and am also trying to grow out my hair. Here is what is working for me and what I suggest:

1. Look into the Nioxin products. It is a gentle cleanser and promotes a healthy scalp environment for your hair to grow.

2. I see that you dye your hair. Stop using harsh chemicals and if you must color your hair, use professional products and try not to over bleach your hair.

3. Use a dry shampoo at least once a week so that you are not washing your hair everyday. A dry shampoo will allow you to go another day or two without washing because it soaks up all of the oil, dirt and products you have on your hair.

4. Take prenatal vitamins. I swear by these!

Most of all have patience and cut only your ends every three months. You need to keep your ends trimmed so that the split ends don't travel up your hair shaft and cause the hair to break. Make sure to tell your hair dresser you are growing your hair out and that you only want the very tips of your hair trimmed. You'll need to get it shaped up as it grows to make it more bearable! Good Luck!

I use coconut oil on my hair also, and yes it is magical! I am in the healing stage from some fractured bones in my foot, and it's been rough trying to walk from one room to another without sharp pain. Last might I was reading about cocounut oil benefits and read it helps with pain and swelling of muscles. Yep, I pulled it out and massaged it in, and as I began to walk away I swear I could feel a difference, even my step was different. So, I am going to be using it on my foot to heal the muscles, too!

Great tips on this thread. I've been using coconut oil on my ends because I only trim twice each year. It was such a disaster the last time I had my hair cut that I have my husband trim it (she cut it a full inch shorter on one side and I had to have her redo it). I do think the coconut oil is helping with the split ends.

You make an important point about bleach. I've never used it because of the potential for damage. I have some highlighted clip-in hair extension and when I want a change I wear them.

Shower but use shampoo like twice a week ..

.. don't use regular shampoos .. get one or make one with shea butter (100%) and essential oils or buy ones ..

Go to the ethnic section and get yourself a cocoa butter hair mask and use it twice a month .. I leave em on for like a half hour ..

I take it you are vegan so you can't have geletin right? ..

Don't brush your hair .. finger pic it when it's wet and blow dry it on a low heat to keep it seperate ..

Nothing you do to your hair from the outside will affect it's growth, no matter what claims are made by cosmetic manufacturers

Your hair grows from the root outwords.

Drugs that speed up your metabolism will make your hair grow faster, i.e. methamphetamine and cocaine.

I've found Nelson's Arnileve Multi-Action Sport Cream to be much more effective than Boiron's Arnicare. Once you try Arnileve, you'll never go back.

Boiron's Arnica has only Arnica montana as it's active ingredient.

Besides Arnica montana, Nelson's Arnileve has Hypericum perforatum (for the relief of injuries to nerve endings), Ruta graveolens (for the relief of pains and strains), Symphytum officinale (for the relief of joint, tendon and bone injuries).

You can find the Arnileve at Lucky Vitamin.

I found some of the Boiron Gel for a good price, just finished ordering it, but will check out the Nelson's product. With physical therapy starting back up for my feet, I know I will have swelling and pain. Not looking forward to it, but I know I need it to bounce back sooner.
Plus, I have Nueropathy, lots of crazy nerve endings so maybe this will help this out. So I will try both, and see howe they work. Again, I am still amazed at the effect of the coconut oil on my feet, very soothing, and I quit dragging my foot, so I know it works.

Thanks to both of you. hf

try researching Hemp Seed Nutrition. Ive been eating hemp for a bit more than a year, and my hair and nails grow like maddness. Hair does about 3/4 inch a month, and clip nails twice a week. Check it out, hemp rules, and does much more for you than grow your hair. You're a pretty cute girl, too! Like the short hair, longer would look cool too! Good luck!

That doesn't work. Trust me.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die.

Re: Tips For Growing Out Hair
Your diet determines your hair.

You can tell a person's nutritional status by looking at their hair.

Feed your hair with nutritous food. And, Yes... that includes proteins and fat.

You do not have to be fat (although most fat people have nice shiny hair).....just be healthy.

trust me...I am always thin...but this summer got way too thin ..and my hair seriously started breaking and thinning out...ugh! I've been trying to get it healthy again since about October.
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven... A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance....
