What literary character would you name your kid after?
I'm a Hawthorne fan, so IF I were to name my kid after a literary character, I guess I would name her (if it was a girl) Hester Prynne (Last Name).

Strong, tough, passionate name, as befits the namesake.

Alternate------Pearl Prynne. For the "wild child" in all of us. LOL.

For a boy-----Goodman Brown (Last Name). Just for the "unusualness" of it.

Alternates:

Montague Rhodes James Something Something.

OR

William Hope Hodgson Something Something.

LOVE weird fiction. LOL.

Or just Nathaniel Hawthorne plus my last name. Obvious.

What are YOU guys's choices?

Your turn now. hiblobrdance

Nice to see a NeverEnding Story fan here. Kudos there, dude.

Nice girl name choices, there, too. (though personally Emma is just too run-of-the-mill and "common" for my taste. But it's MY taste. ultimately.

Thanks.

From "Parable of the Sower," by Octavia Butler, a personal favorite.

A second for a girl would be Katniss. I love strong female characters. So Scout would do, too, I s'pose, and Galadriel. Maybe Xena for a middle name. ;)

Funny I'm having a harder time thinking of stand-out boys' names which are unusual without being geeky. I certainly would not, for instance, want to burden a child of mine with a name like Frodo or Gandalf.

I would also add Buffy to that, by way of tough girl names. Knew one as well once, too.

EVERYONE should read Parable of the Sower.

Buffy.... great character, not such a great name. I had a best friend named Buffy in jr high lo these many years ago, long before the Vampire Hunter. She hated it, and frankly it always sounded to me like a toilet paper brand or something. (She's since changed it.) ;) I'd go for Willow, though!
