Anonymous Coward User ID: 6919351 Canada 02/09/2012 05:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I know what it its! to get a high res picture they have to take multiple shots but this created a blurred effect on the faster moving moon so they had to photo shop the double images out so the image looks like it should if you looked at it through a telescope. just my thought on the matter. |

User ID: 9165500 United States 02/09/2012 05:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I used photoshop and did not see anything interesting there is a binary star down on the bottom left but other than that the picture is just too low quality to get any real detail that can't be contributed to the low quality of the photo. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6919351 [link to imageshack.us] This was after I increased the brightness (+150) and the reduced the contrast (-50). I also modified the levels (about 40) What you can see is that this image was tampered with by the individuals managing this photo. There is clearly an object that was painted over with the color black. The object that was rubbed out was green and red in color or at least its hue was. User ID: 9165500 United States 02/09/2012 05:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You are indeed correct. From the mentioned websites comment section photoshopped Quoting: www.planetary.org/blog/article/00002437Sloppy brushwork in the shadow region of Dione. #1 - Alex - 04/20/2010 - 03:38 ---- Mr if you look close at the shadows to the right you can see a hand holding Dione #2 - Alan McKnight - 04/20/2010 - 10:01 ---- Photoshopping Alex, you're correct that Photoshop was involved, though not perhaps for the reason you think. Cassini takes color pictures by snapping three sequential photos through red, green, and blue filters. In the time that separated the three frames, Dione moved, so if I did a simple color composite I would be able to make Titan look right, but not Dione; or Dione look right, but not Titan. So I aligned Dione, cut it out, and then aligned Titan, and then had to account for the missing bits of shadow where the bits of Dione had been in two of the three channels. I explain this process in much more detail in this post: [link to planetary.org] #3 - Emily Lakdawalla - 04/20/2010 - 11:25 |

I'm in school right now to get a degree in new media, but have been using software like PhotoShop and flash for years now and this is soooo obviously altered it is ridiculous. All you have to do is choose to see. They put a marquee over the moon body and edited out the light that would show behind it. I don't think it had any significance if it weren't done so sloppily. It was literally a paint brush guys, you can see the round strokes... All is divine in your minds eye. :snbanner: |
