Another "Unknown Event" at a US Nuclear Facility...Again.
All of these "Unknown Events" are getting very suspicious in their frequency. This report sure did everything possible to quell fears that this event could potentially harm anyone, a feeble attempt to downplay this occurrence.

Officials at the Prairie Island nuclear plant near Red Wing, Minn., declared a Notification of Unusual Event today at 6:24 a.m. There was no release of radioactive materials and there is no danger to the public or plant employees. Plant officials made the declaration when they received indication that there was a decrease in water levels inside the Reactor Coolant System (RCS) in Unit 2, which is currently undergoing a refueling outage. Operators took immediate actions to respond, and further investigation revealed there was not a leak in the system. Plant operations were not affected by this event, and Unit 2 remains offline for its planned refueling outage. Unit 1 is operating safely at full power. A Notification of Unusual Event declaration is the lowest of four emergency classifications established by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The declaration indicates a potential reduction in the level of safety at the plant, but no threat to public safety.
