I have this problem too, can’t be in the sun without glasses on and the new led lights hurt my eyes so bad it’s like torture. I asked the light salesman and they said a lot of blue eyes people struggle with the LED’s. Interesting.

If your so sensitive to light then you must be a vampire. I have really bright blue eyes. My wife has really bright blue eyes. Neither of us are sensitive to light. We know many people with bright blue eyes. None of them are sensitive to light. So your either a vampire. Or your full of shit.

Yeah I know. Maybe albinos might be sensitive to light but they have red eyes not blue.
But the thing about blue eyed people being sensitive to light is bullshit.
I don't have blue eyes myself.
However I dated a girl who had the bluest and brightest eyes I've ever seen and she was not sensitive to light at all.
I know if she wasn't sensitive to light then what OP is saying about blue eyed people being sensitive to light is all bullshit. So yeah OP is definitely full of shit.

Re: I have very bright blue eyes and they are extremely sensitive to the Sun and light......
Some days my eyes get so bright, people ask me if I'm wearing fake contacts. My eyes are very sensitive to light. I think that is one of the reasons I prefer grey, darker days. At times they become deep blue, but it all depends on my mood or weather. It's actually quite weird. Anyways, why would my eyes be so sensitive in Sun light? I know other people who have green, brown, hazel, and even blue who do not have this problem. I have never met anyone with the type of blue eyes I have, however. They get extremelely bright and piercing. I have done some searches on it, but never really came up with a logical explanation. If I shut my eyes, I can alomost see everything around me and when it is dark, I can still see (not 100%), even without my contacts. I'm somewhat baffled by this.

Not diagnosing but systemic Acidosis can cause sensitive eyes. Don't know your history/age but I would look into that. Hope you resolve it.

That is likely OP's problem if he's not just making shit up. I knows plenty of Nordic people with bright blue eyes that don't have problems with sensitivity to light. Eye color has nothing to do with sensitivity to light.

But yeah other than maybe that eye color has absolutely nothing to do with sensitivity to light.

Blue/Grey eyes and they're just as sensitive to the sunlight as any other colour eyes...

It's not the Iris part of the eye that takes in the full sunlight...it's the opening, pupil part of the eye... the Iris helps to control how much light goes in yes, but it's the pupil that is the sensitive part...

That is why some eye colours appear to change colour depending on the light reflected in them...

I also have bright blue eyes, and feel your pain. I don't think my case is quite as extreme as what you're describing though. However, I do insist on wearing sunglasses anytime that I go outside. Sometimes if I'm sitting by a window, I'm even tempted to wear them inside.

There's a scientific explanation to it. Before people migrated to places other than their native land, everyone in one location had similar features. People with bright blue eyes typically lived in very cold places like Switzerland for instance where the sun would rarely shine. These people also had very light skin because they didn't need much melanin to protect them from suburn.

People in places like Africa typically had darker eyes and skin to protect them from the sun. Their darker sin caused them to absorb the sun rather than burn.
 Quoting: Dease

Hey Dease, how ya doin'? :) Yeah, I am fair skinned, just like most British people are. The weird thing is, my dad was born in Serbia, who are mostly darker skinned and can tan. It is hard for me to tan. I wear sunglasses, but they still aren't enough. I also have sensitivity problems during grey weather as well, but not as much. I mean, some days my eyes get so bright they look artificial. People complement me on them, but that doesn't change how sensitive they are.......lol. Yeah, Hitler woulda loved me. Blonde haired, blue eyed, fair skinned male. lol

Blonde hair blue eyed men are unmanly effeminate gay beta losers. No woman wants a blonde hair blue eyed pale male. Blonde hair blue eyed women on the other hand are hot sexy beautiful and feminine. Every man wants a natural blonde hair blue eyed woman.

hmmm...I have very bright light blue eyes like you two. However I don't have any problems with sensitivity to light.... then again I have brown hair. My skin is somewhat light but not real light. I'm able to tan. Maybe it's just the blondes with really pale skin that have really light blue eyes that have sensitivity to light problems. Maybe that's why I don't suffer that despite having very bright blue eyes like you two.

I have extremely bright piercing clear ice blue (pretty much transparent) eyes.

My sisters do too.
So do my kids.
My husband's eyes are almost as blue.

I also have extremely long natural platinum blonde (almost white) hair, that is very shiny silky, fine and thick(in the amount not texture of course).

My skin is extremely fair and impossible to tan.
I wouldn't tan even if I could.
Tan skin would look weird with me having such blonde hair and blue eyes.

My sisters have the same features I do.

Yes my eyes are very sensitive to light. Same with my sisters and my husband and kids.

We don't wear sunglasses as we believe they do more harm than good.

We don't wear sunscreen.
That stuff is toxic and causes cancer.

Bright sunny summer days and even fall and spring days can be rough for us, particularly if hiking or driving in unshaded areas.

We just take breaks if the sun is getting to be too much for our eyes and try to avoid hiking, being out in, and driving in unshaded areas as much during the brightest part of the day.

We do see very well on the dark.
People always comment on how well we see in the dark .

We do have to be very careful in the sun too as we burn very easily. Even our sweat burns are doing that's how fair and sensitive our skin is.

We do get lots of compliments on our hair and eyes.

People always tell me I have the bluest, brightest, lightest, most beautiful eyes they've ever seen.

My sisters get similar compliments.

People constantly compliment me on my hair too.

They tell me I have the longest blondest, shiniest, silkiest, healthiest, most beautiful hair they ever seen.

Many people nickname me Rapunzel because my hair is so long.
Some nickname me Platinum Rapunzel since my hair is naturally platinum blondes.
Plattylocks is another nickname I get too.

My sisters get those compliments and nicknames too as they also have extremely long hair.
Some nickname us the Rapunzel Sisters, or the Platinum Rapunzel Sisters.

Me and my sisters are and have always been very close.

We're like a team.

Of course me and my husband are a team too.

My family and my husband's family are very close with each other too.

And we are very proud of being white and very proud of our very beautiful very Nordic heritage and genes.
 Quoting: Nordic Goddess 80559707

So you have the sensitivity to light problem like the two other posters. You stated you're blonde and pale skinned. Guess that confirms that it's blondes with pale skin and bright blue eyes that have the problems with sensitivity to light. Brown and black haired people with bright blue eyes must not suffer from sensitivity to light since I have brown hair-somewhat light but not real light skin- and very bright blue eyes. Guess it's a good thing I'm not blonde and pale skinned. It would suck to be sensitive to light.

I have very light eyes too, but I don't have trouble in the sun. I do have problems with road glare from lights at night, but I never wear sunglasses I miss the color too much with them. I do have a darker complexion though maybe somehow more acclimated to sunny locations somehow
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10822715

You probably don't have blonde hair and pale skin. The sensitivity to light problem seems to be a thing with pale skinned blondes with light blue eyes. Brown hair and black hair people with light blue eyes don't seem to suffer that problem.

My eyes are green, however, sometimes they turn blue. Never made a connection why or how. It usually changes depending on my shirt colour - its likely a perception thing. I cant go outside without sunglasses, too painful. I went to hang out white sheets one weekend without sunglasses, it was enough to stop me thinking. It is like all of the light came inside my head and was poking my brain. They dont glow.

I can see clearly at a distance but as I age (41) I am loosing my near sight.

I can see ok in low light. The last hour of sunlight is my favourite time to be outside in the day because of the feeling on my eyes. The colours are spectacular.

Yes, I can see enough to get around with my eyes closed, not read or do anything detailed, however, walk and move freely.

With how bright the sun had become since the mid 2000's I think just about everyone is sensitive to the sun now. I have brown eyes and the sun is hard on my eyes. Never use to be before the mid 2000's- and it just keeps getting worse. the sun used to be yellow. Now it's white.

The sun is so bright now that people who couldnt tan to save their life 20 years ago now tan quite well. I remember 20 years ago blonde and redheads Scandinavian and Irish couldn't tan at all. Now even they tan quite well. Though now you need a much darker tan to avoid sunburn than you did 20 years ago.
