Anonymous Coward User ID: 13177567 United States 03/25/2012 07:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is no "wave pattern", that's been imposed on the data by the format. What you're seeing is pulses, Pulses are to be expected during earthquake activity. Earthquakes are electrically driven. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11715555 we are not saying that that wave pattern is imposed on the picture by anything. i am saying that that wave pattern is intrinsic to the over-all nature of the harmonic tremors that flowed during the 8 hr. period depicted on the chart. look at the "Mary Lake" chart [link to isthisthingon.org] |

Are you saying the lake is buzzing from a harmonic tremor? Is it like a pressure cooker wanting to let off pressure? Quoting: Olea Yimoria TY for the answer it's a wave pattern caused by stuff going through a slit, or a narrow opening. [link to en.wikipedia.org] check out the animations on the right of that link. Quoting: thesleeper Look at the Yellowstone seismograph and Madison just had a good bump! So that chile eq shows off on all those ?? I cant see any effect on the one with 'pulse' thoe, why is that? all of the earthquakes and tremors on the Yellowstone seismic charts are very very low energy (magniture) events. even the Chili quake is only measuring .01 magnitude (or less) in Yellowstone (the energy was 7.1 in Chili) any distant chart that doesn't measure a quake like Chili just means that there was stuff in ground that attenuated the puny energy that would have otherwise reached the seismic sensor. |

(OP) User ID: 4521274 United States 03/25/2012 09:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Four more seismographs showing 'bumps' at Yellowstone. I'm NOT saying that these are related to the Chili quake. However, sometimes when there is a large quake; the Earth will 'ring like a bell'. And these waves can be picked up all over the World. We've seen this with the large quakes in the recent past. The youngster said angrily " If our founding Fathers could see what is going on, they would roll over in their graves!" Anonymous Coward User ID: 13136105 United States 03/25/2012 11:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks! That pattern has defiantly been there for awhile. Seems to be getting more structured. Could be more visible due to a reduction in 'outside' noise? Looks like when the wave becomes tight, there's a series of tremors. Or the noise of the tremors are covering the constant waves. Diffraction Pattern! no question about it. so what you are saying is this is an indication of fluids on the move at very high pressure beneath that lake? [link to upload.wikimedia.org] [link to en.wikipedia.org] Diffraction occurs with all waves, including sound waves, water waves, and electromagnetic waves such as visible light, x-rays and radio waves. |
