Publix is the only employee-owned supermarket chain in the nation, and has over 600 stores throughout the South (about as many as corporate Safeway out West). I miss Publix, especially their store brand sandwich cookies which I used to pay only 99 cents for a pound (Double Fudge flavor, yummy). Tried to get my mother to send me some, but she didn't seem to get my hints. Used to shop at their original store on Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala, FL. Their Danish Bakery was located in a separate storefront right next door to the groceries. I was addicted to their carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (that's about all I ever bought there). |
