Wrong, it was the woo-woos who claimed that the sun is white. I suggest you read Grant´s thread. He´s one of the biggest woo-woos out there.

seriously, the sun´s color does not matter.

Well, what the woo-woos don´t realize is that if the color of the sun had changed, so would the color of the sky since the way the light from the sun is filtered through the atmosphere is what gives the sky its color.

If you really need someone else´s opinion of the sun´s color, then ask an astronaut. He/she would be in the best position to know the true color of the Sun.

The Earth´s atmosphere tends to remove blue light from the Sun, making it appear ´yellower´ than it would appear in space.

I looked several times at the color of the sun…

It looks white. I remember it being yellow when I was younger.

There could be several reasons of course, changes in my eyes, changes in the atmosphere, changes in the Sun itself…

But it DOES look white now. At least to my perception.

I believe this is due to the Sun entering what is known as the Helium cycle of it’s life.

But yes, go and check it out for yourself!

It looks white to me as well... I remember it being more yellow when I was younger. Also, the disk of the Sun appears less well defined. There usually seems to be a haze surrounding it, even when the sky is clear and the humidity is low.

My guess is that astronauts in space now see the Sun as white with a bluish tint, and that the old-timers remember it being pure white. I´d like to know if John Glenn has noticed the change.
