Anonymous Coward User ID: 12498912 United States 04/11/2012 05:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A newborn in Argentina was found very much alive in a morgue by her mother 12 hours after hospital staff had declared the baby dead. Quoting: Sleeping Giant The mother, Analia Bouguet, tells TeleNoticias TV that the hospital still has issued her only a death certificate for the infant rather than a birth certificate. Bouguet said she is planning to pursue a medical malpractice suit. The Daily Mail reports that the baby was Bouguet's fifth and was born prematurely. Two hours after being issue a death certificate, Bouguet and her husband visited the morgue because they wanted to see their child one more time. "The baby was there and they put the little casket on a stretcher. We looked for a bar to pry it open," the baby's father, Fabian Veron, said in a press conference. "My wife looked and uncovered it slowly. She saw the little hand and then uncovered the face. That's when it let the first little cry out." "That night, we went to the morgue. We wanted to take a photo of our daughter," Bouguet told Argentina's Clarin newspaper. "But when a worker opened the drawer, we heard a cry and she was alive." The newborn has been named Luz Milagros, or "Miracle Light." She is still listed as being in critical condition but is said to be improving. The deputy provincial health minister announced that five medical professionals involved in the case have been suspended, pending further investigation. "At the moment we have no explanation," hospital director Jose Luis Meirino told the paper. "The baby was attended to by obstetricians, gynecologists and a neonatologist. They all reached the same conclusion, that this girl was stillborn." [link to news.yahoo.com] Obviously with all that education in the room they didn't reach the right conclusion maybe they need to go back to school for some fillers |

Bet they don't have a dime to take care of 5 kids. If something can corrupt you, you're corrupted already. Bet they don't have a dime to take care of 5 kids. Oh, c'mon. They live in Argentina, whole different culture. 5 kids in a village with a farm, not bad living. I can see here in the u.s. where the irrational prevails and people have tons of resentment. Wasn't long ago the Irish and Italians, canadian catholics had huge productive family life. We're all just nasty now. |

No they probably will do nothing once they reach that kind of imaginary status they get treated like little gods and goddesses I use to work in health care; I have seen it A doctor has to mess up really really bad and do it repeatedly and then they just get transferred to another hospital This is how it works in US anyway |

It was a mistake. I know it's happened in the UK a handful of times over the last few years, and I dare say it's even happened in the US (although, I can't remember it being reported here if it has). I agree with the parents suing for malpractice, and clearly the doctors involved should be disciplined. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 12020607 United States 04/11/2012 05:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just to elaborate while digressing a moment. With all these very recent societal shifts (work far from home) induatrial era stuff, mom back to work, daycare, no easy time for extended family, grandparents, all those people once had a place in the family and could grow their own food. I don't need to get mad at the mexicans (already did that) to undo Zero Population Growth when we were alreadly were digging the grave of meaningful existence. They were allowed in by design, damn or own rules. All sentient beings want to just be happy, and look what we've gone and done! |
