I believe it's closer to 30% unemployed un-accounted for off of unemployement insurance.

I would tend to agree I bet it's more like 30%.

even the concept of "no longer in the workforce".

HOW DO YOU LIVE, if you are no longer in the workforce and no longer eligible for benefits?

You dont, you still have needs that you get from somewhere. NOBODY is out of the workforce, unless theyre dead. Everyone needs to be productive, and to be productive, you have to work. The whole wordplay bollocks should be no longer be tolerated, and to do that you have to stop accepting bollocks in word or deed

Not true - there are a lot of homes where there were once two incomes, and now there's only one. And there are a lot of adult children who have moved back home with mom and dad.

This is very true and is why my title reflects a much more conservative figure of "20% or more" .. It could be 25% or 30%, that level of detail is too difficult to accurately determine. It is for sure NOT 8% and definitely at least 20%.

Re: 88 Million (1 in 3 Americans) Are Invisible to Government Un-Employment Statistics! Real rate is 20% or more!
I am barely getting 16 hours per week in my white collar desk job. Underemployed but not showing up in any statistics. My company is keeping people on board just because they think the recovery is just around the corner. Thank goodness they are sheep and believe that crap or I would have no job. I would rather work than stay at home and live off the government. No more retirement plan and barely any health benefits as they continue to cut.

Meanwhile, I know people that work for the local and state government that are still working full time even thought they do not actually work all that time, cushy health benefits and retirement. No change at all. Makes me sick that government does not cut back during hard times while the private sector suffers. I freaking cant stand government.
