Israeli Drones in Azerbaijan -> 16 million Azeris living in northern Iran ("South Azerbaijan") are in need of liberation !
Now it makes sense why Azerbaijan got involved , there is a nice chunk of Land from Iran at stake .

First the mega Radar in Turkey ( close to the Iranian border ) , now , at the other border with Azerbaijan , Iran is sorounded and at minutes away from a strike .

But you Got to take note of : " ... 16 million Azeris who live in northern Iran ("South Azerbaijan") are in need of liberation ... " :

" .... What Are Israeli Drones Doing in Azerbaijan?

TEHRAN (FNA)- Israel's growing military and intelligence cooperation with Iran's Northern neighboring state of Azerbaijan and the increasing number of the Israeli drones in the Caucasian country have raised serious questions about the ultimate goals and objectives behind the move.

Azerbaijan has recently purchased military equipment from Israel for an amount of $1.6 billion. Details of this purchase were never mentioned, but now the veil of secrecy is being lifted.

Also obtained were five Heron and five Searcher UAVs. The Israeli Heron TP is a 4.6 ton aircraft that can operate at 14.5 kilometers. The Heron TP has a one ton payload, enabling it to carry sensors that can give a detailed view of what's on the ground, even from that high up.

The endurance of 36 hours makes the Heron TP a competitor for the US MQ-9 Reaper. The Searcher 2 is a half-ton aircraft with an endurance of 20 hours, max altitude of 7,500 meters and can operate up to 300 kilometers from the operator. It can carry a 120 kg payload.

Among the items ordered were Gabriel anti-ship missiles. These are 522 kg weapons with a range of 36 kilometers.

For air defense, there are Barak-8 systems, including 75 missiles. The Barak missiles cost about $1.6 million each, weigh 98 kg with 21.8 kg warhead and have a range of ten kilometers. The missiles are mounted in an eight cell container (which requires little maintenance) and are launched straight up.

The radar system provides 360 degree coverage and the missiles can take down an incoming anti-ship or cruise missile as close as 500 meters away. Each Barak system (missile container, radar, computers and installation) costs about $24 million. The missile is also effective against aircraft and can be mounted on ships or trucks.

Also part of the deal is a Green Pine radar system, which Israel uses for its missile defense system. Green Pine can detect incoming ballistic missiles up to 500 kilometers away, but can also spot approaching warplanes.

Although, Azerbaijan has told Tehran that these weapons were not intended for belligerent purposes against Iran, but for settling a territorial dispute with neighboring Armenia, analysts said that the equipments and Israel's access to airbases in Azerbaijan prove to the otherwise and will leave negative impacts on regional peace and security.

To add to the sensitivity of the issue, Azerbaijan recently sheltered several Mossad agents who had escaped from Iran after assassinating an Iranian nuclear scientist.

Iranian officials had earlier warned Azerbaijan not to shelter the Zionist regime's terrorist agents whose mission is carrying out acts of sabotage and espionage against Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Azeri Ambassador to Tehran Javanshir Akhundov to protest at Baku for sheltering several Mossad-trained terrorists who had assassinated the Iranian scientists.

In January and in the fifth attack of its kind in two years, a magnetic bomb was attached to the car of 32-year-old Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan in the capital, Tehran. His driver was also killed in the terrorist attack.

The blast took place on the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Iranian university professor and nuclear scientist, Massoud Ali Mohammadi, who was also assassinated in a terrorist bomb attack in Tehran in January 2010.

The assassination method used in the January bombing was similar to the 2010 terrorist bomb attacks against the then university professor, Fereidoun Abbassi Davani - who is now the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization - and his colleague Majid Shahriari. While Abbasi Davani survived the attack, Shahriari was martyred.

Another Iranian scientist, Dariush Rezaeinejad, was also assassinated through the same method on 23 July 2011.

Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi underscored that the US, Israeli and British spy agencies were involved in the terrorist attacks against the Iranian scientists.

The London Times reported in February that Israel is using Azerbaijan, a small Eurasian country which shares a border with Iran, as a base to spy on the Tehran government. .... |

Israel's Secret Staging Ground

U.S. officials believe that the Israelis have gained access to airbases in Azerbaijan. Does this bring them one step closer to a war with Iran?

" ..... "We're watching what Iran does closely," one of the U.S. sources, an intelligence officer engaged in assessing the ramifications of a prospective Israeli attack confirmed. "But we're now watching what Israel is doing in Azerbaijan. And we're not happy about it."

Israel's deepening relationship with the Baku government was cemented in February by a $1.6 billion arms agreement that provides Azerbaijan with sophisticated drones and missile-defense systems.

At the same time, Baku's ties with Tehran have frayed: Iran presented a note to Azerbaijan's ambassador last month claiming that Baku has supported Israeli-trained assassination squads targeting Iranian scientists, an accusation the Azeri government called "a slander."

In February, a member of Yeni Azerbadzhan -- the ruling party -- called on the government to change the country's name to "North Azerbaijan," implicitly suggesting that the 16 million Azeris who live in northern Iran ("South Azerbaijan") are in need of liberation. .... " .

Perfect target for Iran's powerful air defense systems. Thats why Iran has brought new anti-stealth advance radars to its north west region bordering Armenia and Azerbaijan. Do not worry something like that is a good target for a qareh sam or sayyad sam.

Wow Israel finally managed to get a drone that can travel 2000 miles after iran last year unveiled the KARAR armed UCAV that can fly to israel and bomb it and back.

... plus , as per commentators , it provides a very close range of attack .

Be aware of the Shills trying to cover this major development keeping in mind that Before Azerbaijan base the
Israel air force would have to travel distances that required double air refueling , hence is a Major deveopment in the Iranian situation .

2) the North Iran will be given to Azerbaijan

Iran Reiterates "Undisputable Sovereignty" over Persian Gulf Islands

TEHRAN (FNA)- Tehran once again rejected the baseless claims raised by the UAE and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) on the three Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb and the Lesser Tunb, reiterating that the three Persian Gulf islands are indispensible part of the Iranian territory.

Following a recent statement issued by the 39th PGCC extraordinary session in Doha, Qatar, about the ownership of the three Persian Gulf islands, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast expressed regret over the unfounded and baseless claims of the council, and condemned the allegations as a "blatant meddling in the Islamic Republic of Iran's internal affairs".

After Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Abu Musa last week, the UAE recalled its ambassador from Tehran in protest at Ahmadinejad's official trip to the Iranian island.

Then, the foreign ministers of the six-nation PGCC held an emergency meeting in Doha on Tuesday and issued a statement against the Iranian President's visit to the Iranian island.

Mehman-Parast said that the visit is an issue related to Iran's state sovereignty, and noted, "That these islands belong to Iran's soil is a constant, unchangeable and non-negotiable fact."

"The era of declaring unconstructive positions in the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council statements about the three Iranian islands has ended," he stated.

International documents clearly show that the three islands of the Greater Tunb, the Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa which were historically owned by Iran, temporarily fell to British control in 1903.
The islands were returned to Iran based on an agreement in 1971 before the UAE was born.

Iran has repeatedly declared that its ownership of the three islands is unquestionable.

Under international law, no state can defy any agreement, which came into being before its establishment.

Yet, the UAE continues to make territorial claims against the Islamic Republic despite historical evidence and international regulations. ... " .

Northrop Grumman recently celebrated the completion of its 2,000th microwave power module,an integral component in radars, jammers and other military electronics.

Microwave power modules are devices that amplify radio frequency signals to high power. These assemblies are critical components in electronic warfare and countermeasure systems such as the AN/ALQ-135 for U.S. and international F-15 aircraft.

The power these modules generate allows systems like the ALQ-135 to defeat electronic threats with strong signals, protecting the aircraft and its crew.

"For 20 years and counting, Northrop Grumman has been manufacturing highly reliable miniaturized microwave power modules that our warfighters depend on in combat," said Janine Nyre, Northrop Grumman's vice president of radio frequency combat information systems.

"Our continued investment has led to microwave power modules that are both smaller and more powerful; enabling systems ready to protect aircrews from the threats of today and tomorrow."

Will that stop a 20mm cannon round?

A 737 is so big and so unmaneuverable (especially an unmanned one) that you don't need an air to air missile to shoot it down.

Just a big gun.

Re: Israeli Drones in Azerbaijan -> 16 million Azeris living in northern Iran ("South Azerbaijan") are in need of liberation !
There you go. Pay attention to the bold sentences. See what russia did.

C&P
As of August 1941, the United States was a neutral nation had not entered as a belligerant in World War II. Therefore, the bloc known as 'The Allies' were principally (with Poland and France occupied by Germany in 1939 and 1940, respectively) the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union, recently forming their alliance after the German invasion of territories of the Eastern Soviet Union in June 1941. In the aftermath of the occupation of Iran, those Allied forces agreed to withdraw from Iran within six months after the cessation of hostilities. However, when this deadline came in early 1946, the Soviets under Joseph Stalin remained in Iran and local pro-Soviet Iranians proclaimed a separatist People's Republic of Azerbaijan.[2]

In late 1945, in addition to the People's Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Mahabad also came into existence. Soon, the alliance of the Kurdish and People's Azerbaijani forces, supported in arms and training by the Soviet Union, engaged in fighting with Iranian forces,[1] resulting in total of 2,000 casualties. Negotiation by Iranian premier Ahmad Qavam and diplomatic pressure on the Soviets by the United States eventually led to Soviet withdrawal. The crisis is seen as one of the early conflicts in the growing Cold War at the time.

Yet, the UAE continues to make territorial claims against the Islamic Republic despite historical evidence and international regulations. ... " .

I doubt the Iranian government would have the same outlook if the Israeli government produced a land deed for Jerusalem .

Actually God was smart enough to have both David and Jerimiah to bury deeds to the land in earthen Jars sealed against the elements and there is no doubt these will surface in due time . Of course the world will cry they are fake and just a fairy tale .

Let's ask the Azerbaijan people, shall we? My guess is, they don't have much say so in what happens to them. So, again, Azerbaijan is none of Israel's fucking business.

very interesting news OP.

just one thing to note, i think its perhaps not right to say to say a bomb which kills a nuclear scientist is a terrorist attack. since its clearly a targeted assassination rather than a random blast.

but otherwise very good reporting.
