I’ve been trying to think of some way to encourage you, to look back at other times when our country had fallen on hard times and came roaring back. We have had great ups like our founding and terrible downs like the era of Wilson and FDR. There was the roaring 1920’s followed by the “Brother Can You Spare a Dime” pop song 1930’s. The Golden age of America was the 1950’s when the best cars in the world were made out of America steel and the worst kind of trouble at school on a normal day was getting busted for chewing gum in class. During the malaise of the Carter 1970’s it seemed our torch was going out. Japan, the nation we had nuked only 30 years prior was selling us their cars because in the 70’s American cars weren’t worth their weight in salvage value. Inflation and unemployment were so high they created a new economic measure called the “Misery Index” just to keep track of how bad bad was. Then, just a few years later Ronald Reagan showed us in the 1980’s just why America is the world’s most resilient and potent nation. We went back to space, defeated the Soviet Union, and brought the world into the computer age. We were free and unlimited in our potential for achievement in the 1980’s. Contrary to the 1930’s, one of the pop songs in the 80’s was “My Future’s So Bright, I’ve Got to Wear Shades”.

I wish all that historical evidence could lift my own spirits right about now. But, looking back up at that last paragraph there was something that really never changed much in America throughout all our economic ups and downs of the past. Back then, even during the horribly wrong government tyranny of the days of FDR and the mind-numbing incompetence of Jimmy Carter, America use to be a moral and upright nation. There will always be bad guys somewhere, but on the whole, America use to at least aspire to be a morally upright nation. Not so anymore. America has forsaken God and the blessings and protections of His divine providence have been removed. I believe that our nation is on its own now. Without God’s providence, we are no different than any other desperate, greedy, devolving nation on the planet.

John Adams told us who our constitution was written for. He said, “The Constitution for the United States was written for a moral and upright people and is wholly inadequate for the governance of any other.”

Benjamin Franklin is credited with describing our current economic situation. He said, “When the people discover that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic”.

So, this is where we are. We have lost our moral core and have accepted the insanity that we can simply vote ourselves money. Come quickly Lord. We’re done.

Dead on balls accurate, but there are people willing to stand with you. Those who led our country to freedom in the first place were by no means the majority, they were the minority by a long shot. They led a tax revolt against tyranny, and were willing to die for that cause. Their punishment most assuredly would have been death, hence the famous phrase "Give me Liberty, or Give Me Death".
