I keep hearing pit bull owners saying how friendly their dogs are every time a story comes up about how a pit bull tore open some none aggressive bystander. I just don't see what the point is of owning one of these dogs. There are many other wonderful breeds out there available....

Those dogs were not attacking they were just "feeling them out". If they were attacking then a simple knife wouldn't faze them at all. I don't know if they were pitbulls either. One of them had a tail that curled upwards and pits don't do that.

I've raised pits.... lots of em prob more than anybody on this board.

I've also have gotten mauled by dogs before but none by a pitbull. Have gotten bit a few times but it was play time and they weren't serious.

The worse I have gotten mauled was by a doberman. It split my head open front to back and ripped my cheek from my cheekbone down close to my chin.
The others were a lab, fiest, some type of cur dog etc.

My best friend was a dog catcher for a while right after he graduated HS and the worst ones he told me were cur dogs or the smaller ones.
