Time Travel: Not everyone can do it.
Time Travel: Not everyone can do it.

When considering the idea of traveling through time, we have to understand that without a Temporal Dampener, the moment that that time traveler is sent in either direction through time s/he is ripped out of the time/space continuum - his/her whole life ceases to be.

A historical figure such as Lincoln cannot travel through time. His life being pivotal to history cannot cease to be.

While time is elastic enough to absorb some changes, important, pivotal events and peoples cannot be removed from time.

The only individuals who are able to travel through time would be those who have no historical importance.

Even those who just met a historical figure and influenced that person in some small way cannot leave the time stream. They have historical value in that they influenced a historical person. Even those who had some minor influence in historical events cannot be ripped out of the time stream.

Finding anyone who has no influence in history is a daunting task, especially if we consider the idea of 6 degrees of separation. Everything a person does influences others who, somewhere along the line, influence historical events/individuals thus causes the flow of history to be exactly what it is.

Time travelers are, therefore, a very rare breed, as there are too few people who have lived their whole life without influencing historic events and individuals.

This seems to indicate that time is constructed of events. I don't see it that way, I see events as constructed of time. Time contains them, not the other way around. But I have no math

I read something interesting on the subject of Time Travel. The Stephen King book called 11-22-63. It was chilling to say the least. In the book every time someone went back in time, it starts a new string of time. It may appear to have the same events and placement to the time traveler, but there were individuals who monitor all strings of time.
