Maybe Global Warming could be fixed, "Climate Change" can't be fixed

Originally people were told that there is a problem called "Global Warming". The theory was that people released carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, the carbon dioxide trapped heat in the atmosphere, which led to the whole planet heating up. That meant that the problem could be fixed by reducing carbon dioxide emissions, which would reduce the heating of the planet.

But some years ago, the theory changed. It was suddenly renamed to "Climate Change", and the theory was changed to: "People release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, and by some unexplained physical process, this would lead to either the planet warming up OR THE PLANET COOLING DOWN." Warming of the planet by this new problem called Climate Change cannot be fixed by reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Here is why warming caused by Climate Change cannot be fixed: the new theory says that carbon dioxide in the atmosphere could heat the planet up OR COOL IT DOWN. Logically that means that reducing carbon dioxide emissions could cause the planet to either cool down or heat up. There's no way to tell which way it will go. If carbon dioxide emissions were cooling the planet down, (which could happen under the Climate Change theory), and we reduce carbon dioxide emissions, this could cause the planet to HEAT UP.

Consider the analogy of Global Warming to a car with an accelerator pedal. If you push the pedal down, the car speeds up and goes faster. If you want the car to slow down, you have to release the pressure and let the pedal back up. SIMPLE.

Now consider the analogy of Climate Change to a car which has a pedal which could either accelerate the car OR SLOW IT DOWN. If you push down on the pedal, the car could go faster or it could go slower. That means that if you release the pressure on the pedal, the car might slow down, or it might go faster! You can't just say, "Oh we have to release pressure on that pedal to stop the car going too fast", because THE PEDAL DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!!!!

The Global Warming theory had a simple relationship between carbon dioxide and the planet warming up. More carbon dioxide makes the planet warmer. If the warming of the planet is a big problem, it's easy to see how to fix the problem: reduce carbon dioxide levels.

However the Climate Change theory says that more carbon dioxide could warm the planet up or cool it down. There's no easy way to stop Climate Change. If you reduce carbon dioxide, that could cool the planet down, or warm it up! If people reduce carbon dioxide levels, the Climate Change theory says that this could lead to disastrous warming of the planet!!

That's why Global Warming could maybe be fixed, but Climate Change cannot be fixed by reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
