Naysayers - Have at it, and goooood luck! Quoting: DivineTruth [link to www.luisprada.com] See the following response about the temperature of the space at: [link to imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov] . Here is the text from that website: "The Question: All I wanted to ask you is that if we put a thermometer in Space with no other light or heat source around and absolutely no background radiation there, what would it read? Would the temperature be really cold or what? "The Answer: "Yes, it would be really cold. Temperature measures the energy per "degree of freedom" (i.e., way something can move) of whatever molecules happen to be around. So, it becomes so cold that the molecules stop all together, then this is the "absolute zero" temperature. On the Celsius Temperature Scale (i.e., water freezes at 0, and boils at 100) this takes place at -273 o C. "We usually use the Kelvin temperature scale, where Zero Kelvin is this "absolute zero" temperature -- or -273 o C. Water freezes at +273 o Kelvin and water boils at +373 o Kelvin. "If we put a thermometer in darkest space, with absolutely nothing around, it would first have to cool off. This might take a very very long time. Once it cooled off, it would read 2.7 o Kelvin. This is because of the "3 degree microwave background radiation." No matter where you go, you cannot escape it -- it is always there." Answer by Jonathan Keohane for Ask a High-Energy Astronomer. Don't know if the arguments on that site are sound, but there is no reason to assume that the sun itself is hot on its surface. Heat acts pretty weird in a vacuum Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13578021 but... you can see sun destined comets and asteroids evaporate / ignite before they reach the corona. The only force in the universe that I know to cause things ignite is heat... I don't think you do if you say such silly things. Heat does not ignite things. Heat is a conversion of energy. It is a result of the interaction of an energy source with another energy source. energy is neither created nor destroyed, only converted. ever hear of an atomic bomb? matter becomes energy Government is a body largely ungoverned. |

Think outside the sphere people. Im for the hotless sun theory. Sunny. no. The heat from the sun has to pass through our atmosphere (which is not uniform) and be absorbed by the earth (not uniform) the earth will absorb and reflect the heat depending on what the material is, how light or dark it is, and water will absorb heat differently than land mass. Black ashphalt will create more heat than grassy fields. Add to that the fact that we have winds and currents that take the heat and move it around a lot, blowing in cold air from the north, or moving cool night air from one region or hot air from a daytime region. This is basic science here. |

The fact is, if all the hard evidence, not conjecture, but hard evidence supporting fusion on the sun was posted on GLP it's servers would melt. There is nothing theoretical about the sun's fusion engine or the sun's temperature. Photovoltaic solar panels work by using photons from the sun to create a flow of electrons. The photons come from the sun's nuclear reaction and can be measured a thousand different ways (and have been). No nuclear reaction, no photons, no solar energy. |
