You only need enough preps for 30 days. After that most of the population will have been killed off and their will plenty left.
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1585965 I cannot imagine any realistic doomsday scenario by which there would be "plenty (vital resources, I guess) left". Either there would be millions of starved, ready-to-kill-for-food people left or the surface of the planet would be entirely devastated.
